Club have released this today.
31 December 2013 at 1:39 am #125433The growth and success of Wigan Athletic would not have been possible without the continued financial support of Chairman, David Whelan who remains an enthusiastic and committed owner and is determined to help his club return to the Premier League as soon as possible
:woohoo:
31 December 2013 at 3:16 am #125444The sale of McCarthy and Kone not included in those accounts. It will be interesting to see the 2013-2014 accounts when this revenue and hopefully January’s expenditure [ :woohoo: ] is put into the mix.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!31 December 2013 at 3:40 am #125449The growth and success of Wigan Athletic would not have been possible without the continued financial support of Chairman, David Whelan who remains an enthusiastic and committed owner and is determined to help his club return to the Premier League as soon as possible:woohoo:
What’s surprising, shocking or unbelievable about that?

What has happened at Wigan Athletic over the last 2 decades would not have happened if it were not for Dave Whelan.
Like him or loathe him he has been instrumental in the rise of our club.

Exactly…
We pay our money so we’re entitled to our opinions. But without DW we would have played FC Utd not Man Utd this season.
Just look at Cardiff and Hull to see the problems of owners not getting on with the fans. The Glazers at ManUre (seems to have been resolved) the Chicken farmers at Blackburn and especially those parasites Hicks and Gillett at Liverpool.
On the other hand, Wolves didn’t complain when Sir Jack Heywood took over, or Blackburn with Jack Walker…real football people running clubs, not greedy Yanks and Arabs.

i got your point lad; they say a picture is worth a thousand words and your obvious whoohoo smiley thing was to endorse the sterling work that mr whelan has done for the club. it was neither surprising nor shocking and i think that some people cant think or see past their own egos at times.

Really? I read it as a sarcastic dig at the “return to the premier league” bit.
Either that, or there was no point to it at all.
