I know i’m not that bright, but can someone explain
to me why neither Gibbs on Chamberline have served
a ban for that sending off mix up the other week.6 April 2014 at 10:48 pm #129491Because Arsenal appealed and were successful. The red card was rescinded.
6 April 2014 at 10:55 pm #129492so there was no doubt that there was a sending off offence
and they suffered no punishment apart from losing a man
for about an hour in a game they were getting spanked in
anyway.
So things didn’t work out to badly for them.6 April 2014 at 11:22 pm #129495so there was no doubt that there was a sending off offence

So things didn’t work out to badly for them.A handball offence is only a red card if it prevents a certain goal or a goal scoring opportunity
The original shot was going wide so the FA rescinded the card shown to the wrong man & said it wouldn’t be applied to the correct player coz the ref got the sending off decision for the offence wrong
In fact they were I correctly made to play with 10 men for an hour so they suffered more than they should have done6 April 2014 at 11:24 pm #129496so there was no doubt that there was a sending off offence

6 April 2014 at 11:25 pm #129497No – there wasn’t any sending off offence. So Arsenal lost a man for an hour without any justification.
Arsenal argued that Gibbs should not be suspended because he was not the player who handled the ball.
Arsenal also argued that as the ball was going wide, Chamberlain had not prevented a goal scoring opportunity.
So the referee, Andre Marriner, was found wrong on both counts. He has been appointed to referee the Hull-Sheffield United semifinal at Wembley.
7 April 2014 at 1:05 am #129504thanks for the clarification.
So Marriner as been rewarded for hie double cock up then
7 April 2014 at 4:22 am #129528Yes, he’s a referee.
