        From Wigan North Western, change at Preston;

        Trains to Colne – get off at Burnley Central
        Trains to York – get off at Burnley Manchester Road

        11:43 Wigan North Western – Burnley Central 13:15 1h 32m
        12:26 Wigan North Western – Burnley Manchester Road 13:26 1h 00m
        12:43 Wigan North Western – Burnley Central 14:15 1h 32m
        13:25 Wigan North Western – Burnley Manchester Road 14:26 1h 01m

        It’s usually quicker to return from Burnley Manchester Road;

        16:58 Burnley Manchester Road – Wigan North Western 18:08 1h 10m
        17:03 Burnley Central – Wigan North Western 18:27 1h 24m
        17:57 Burnley Manchester Road – Wigan North Western 18:58 1h 01m
        18:03 Burnley Central – Wigan North Western 19:28 1h 25m

        From Burscough Bridge, Parbold, Appley Bridge, Wigan Wallgate, Hindley and Westhoughton, you can take a Manchester train and change at Bolton and Blackburn;

        11:53 Wigan Wallgate – Burnley Manchester Road 13:26 1h 33m
        12:53 Wigan Wallgate – Burnley Manchester Road 14:26 1h 33m

        16:58 Burnley Manchester Road – Wigan Wallgate 19:02 2h 04m
        18:03 Burnley Central – Wigan Wallgate 19:57 1h 54m

          Your not one of those little scrotes that mob up and act the pr/ck until the police arrive are you??
          saw a few of them the other week in that bee hive pub at Horwich surrounded by the police but again acting up and chucking dangerous flares with women and children about with their stone island gear on and thinking up the tall stories to tell in school that Monday!
          Some of them were also all over the internet talking about no shows by Bolton in Blackrod FFS ?????
          A bit like arranging a meet in Parbold – you have to laugh
          Take the bus or car or you will be holed up with the clowns no doubt.

          I got the train to a Burnley game once (think it was the game where Pat McGibbon scored a late equaliser).
          Feckin horrendous – from the train that seems to take an ice age, the train getting stuck in Oswaldtwistle for half an hour coz the bend in the track is too tight for the train to negotiate at a decent speed, the walk too & from Turf Moor from the train station with it kicking off virtually every step of the way & then it being topped off by a groups of Preston fans hanging round Blackburn train station waiting for Rovers fans to get back from wherever they’d played but deciding in the meantime that the odd Wigan fan was fair game.
          Not one of the best away trips I’ve had
          Never again!!!

            I remember that game when pat mc gibbon score that goal at the end also and it was no picnic getting out of there in a car never mind the train.
            The stone island schoolchildren may find it a harsh lesson on Monday – not a place to venture to by train imo

            I’m not wet behind the ears & used to go to all away games by train (back in the days I still qualified for a young persons railcard) and I’d agree completely with that last comment.
            Of all the grounds I travelled to via the train, including probably more notorious ones like Millwall, it’s the only one I’d never go to again on public transport

              Birmingham away is also iffy as all their boozers are around new st so you have to be restrained .Not sure I would venture away on the choo choo now with this new breed of prats – embarrassment

              Not had the pleasure of that one.
              Chesterfield got quite lively once though – a group of em seemed quite intent on having a fight with me for some reason!!

              Fans of different teams often pass through Preston station, depending on the fixtures.

              There is usually a large police presence there on Saturday evenings.

                Also remember a reception committee at Southampton as we left the train before the 4th round tie in 1986.
                funniest story I have of the train is when myself a few mates met some Carlisle fans coming back from Walsall on a Saturday night after we had played at villa.
                We started singing the C and A and an R and an L song that they sing when a few of our more mature bone heads came down the train looking for a bit of bother.
                Their disappointed faces when they realised that it was all good natured and we were actually Latics fans and that we were more of match for them was a very funny moment indeed.
