Why did waghorn take it?
Penalty misses going to cost us at the end.
26 April 2014 at 11:34 pm #130292To be fair – it was a top class save from Gilks
26 April 2014 at 11:38 pm #130294To be fair it was never a penalty
26 April 2014 at 11:42 pm #130297It was never a penalty and it was a good save, but that still doesn’t answer the question as to why our penalty taker didn’t take it.
I know Jordi has missed a couple lately, but he scored the last one under immense pressure at Wembley, so I don’t understand the reasoning behind it.
Just a bit more tinkering fot tinkerings sake maybe.27 April 2014 at 12:01 am #130300I expected either jordi or maloney to have taken it TBH.
27 April 2014 at 12:17 am #130304To be fair it was never a penaltyThat’s an understatement
Makes up for a few we didn’t get in the Prem…that Chelsea handball on the line
Waghorn put it in the top corner fair enough, but from my angle it was obvious where he was going to put it.
Still has to be saved though so fair play to the keeper.
27 April 2014 at 12:19 am #130305I never feel confident when a player takes a short run up, a long run up at speed and the keeper has to choose which way to go before the balls been kicked and you just put it to the opposite side, of if in doubt straight down the middle.
Or at least that’s the way I used to take penalties.
27 April 2014 at 12:23 am #130307The golden rule for me is the keeper might move…but the goalposts don’t.
Hit the target :woohoo:
If the keeper saves it fair play.
Leighton Baines has scored 13 out of 13 in the Prem…
27 April 2014 at 12:30 am #130308Crap penalty from an average footballer.
27 April 2014 at 12:38 am #130310Crap penalty from an average footballer.I disagree.
A crap penalty is one that misses the target.
I agree in that it was poor…ie he telescoped his intentions…but the keeper still made a good save..give him credit.
27 April 2014 at 11:43 am #130330I always thought the phrase was “telegraphing” your intentions???
27 April 2014 at 1:24 pm #130334To make sure we have other players with live penalty experience in a game. Am sure I can think of a recent game where penalties cost us.
Poor performance but we have it well in our hands to get into the playoffs, where we might need penalty experience !
27 April 2014 at 1:32 pm #130335We have two games to play three points needed,If we dont get 3 points,we dont deserve be in the playoffs.
27 April 2014 at 1:58 pm #130336Doncaster,Millwall Blackpool…..Total points amassed from these six games……one. On that basis alone we don’t deserve to be in the play-offs. Then of course there’s the matter of Birmingham Tuesday neet… never won there before….15 consecutive home matches without a win…nailed on for a home victory!!!
27 April 2014 at 2:22 pm #130340Just a bit more tinkering fot tinkerings sake maybe. If Brentford had followed Rosler’s instruction on penalties, they would have been promoted last season.
Marcello Trotta’s spot-kick to leap-frog opponents Doncaster hits bar, Rovers break away and net to make themselves League One champs. Rosler said: “I don’t know what to say. Trotta was not my first choice to take the penalty.”
