Anyone know of any logical reason why the championship play off final is on the Saturday this year and not the usual Monday???
The only reason that I can think of is that as its World Cup year, Championship teams are more likely to have players involved in the world cup, so moving it forward gives em more rest/time to work with their national squads ahead of that.
Not sure how big a difference 2 days makes but there you goThe championship play off final has been played on the saturday for the past 2/3 seasons now. But TBH, i think its better on the bank holiday.

The general view is that it is because of the World Cup.
It may only be a couple of days, but they are possibly a couple of days when international squads are assembling for the World Cup in June.
There are international friendlies the following Friday eg England V Peru.
So 2 extra days does make a difference to some!
