The 24 October 2014 marks 157 years to the day since the formation of Sheffield FC, the world’s oldest football club.
They were established in 1857 by a group of cricketers looking for a sport to play in the summer. Its headquarters were at a potting shed and green house – far from today’s plush directors’ boxes.
