• Wigan have lost only one of their last seven against Sunderland in league and cup.
• Sunderland have only won once away to Wigan, a 1-0 victory in the Championship in 2005 when Marcus Stewart got the only goal.
Wigan
• The Latics have not kept a clean sheet in their last eight league games and have conceded 14 goals in their last three matches.
• Wigan have scored three goals from set-pieces this season, fewer than any other side in the top flight.
• Wigan lost their opening two home league games this season (to Wolves and Manchester United) but are unbeaten in their last four at the DW Stadium.
Sunderland
• The Black Cats have won just one of their last 16 away league games, a 1-0 victory at Bolton on the opening day of the season.
• Darren Bent has scored nine of Sunderland’s 21 league goals this season.
• Without Bent’s goals, the Black Cats would have taken seven fewer points and would sit two points above the relegation zone.
