Common sense at last. Cash turnstiles open for both East and West stands. Hopefully this will be followed by us finding out two strikers will start and the copycat Bob tactics will end.

‘West Brom manager Tony Pulis conceded that he employed the wrong tactics in playing two strikers – Rickie Lambert and Saido Berahino.
“I said to the players after the game I have to take responsibility for this one. I played Saido Berahino and Rickie Lambert and that left the midfield too open. It went against the principles I have always worked to and it has given me a rude awakening. ‘

Yes SW, but what does a highly respected Manager like Tony Pulis know opposed to Donny’s Page?
11 August 2015 at 3:20 pm #143892Off course Pulis knows more than me or any other fan but should that stop you having an opinion. Ffs Pulis has a history of playing horrible drab football different to Bobs but equally as drab. Jesus if he had played his usual one up front negative bilge he could have got beaten 5 nil and he would be saying he should have tried two up front.

Now who’s opinion should I value more?
11 August 2015 at 3:44 pm #143895OK boys let’s all bow down to Tony Pulis. Suppose having a cash turnstile is a shit idea too?

11 August 2015 at 4:21 pm #143899OK boys let’s all bow down to Tony Pulis. Suppose having a cash turnstile is a shit idea too?I think Pulis should have played three at the back, two in mid-field and five up front.
What was he thinking?
11 August 2015 at 4:33 pm #143901There’s a time and a place for playing 2 up front is the point he was making, not that it should never happen.
I would imagine v Man City is more ill advised than against say Doncaster or Scunthorpe.

Wigan Athletic played a good part of the second half against Coventry with “two up-front” but I didn’t notice any improvement in the way the team played.
11 August 2015 at 5:30 pm #143905Which takes me back to my other current point that these lads need time playing together regularly before we can make any judgement against them.
Who knows, the answer in this division may be the 4-6-0 approach you enjoyed under your mate Malky ;)

11 August 2015 at 6:06 pm #143908Mackay was brought in for one job only by whelan that was to clear out all high earners then walk away ._. Clearing the deck for the failed chippy mon whelan may fool most people but definitely not me ;)

Last season City,s Achilles heel was their defence so I reckon a few managers playing them last night in the first game of the season would have used similar tactics. So he got it wrong but admitted he did and both Yaya and Company who were pants last season suddenly turned up again last night.
