WTF are they playing at, terrible articles which are literally serving the purpose of supplying a link to join a gambling site or encourage gambling.

Betting On English League 1 Games

How the face of gambling has changed

Feel quite dirty and used after reading those. Poor show imo all for the sake of a couple of quid for those daft enough to click through.

TEZ H – Totally agree. For me its wrong, and the final paragraph is nothing more than a placatory gesture trying to justify the article.

Yes, people have the choice to bet or not, but like you I don’t think it should be promoted through the Supporters Club. And there’ll be all the arguments as to where you stop … booze, fags, and the rest but this doesn’t feel right.

The fact that the team have turned out regularly in recent seasons in shirts bearing the logos of betting companies didn’t seem to cause a problem.

Nor is the fact that every match on commercial TV has that obnoxious guy giving the odds for the next corner or whatever.

To be honest if you’re going to be persuaded to bet by an article on a supporters’ club website then really you aren’t fit to be let out alone in case you go and buy a house on impulse.

In response Garswood, I would refer you to my post which states, “Poor show imo all for the sake of a couple of quid for those daft enough to click through”

Latics commercially took the decision to put a bookmaker on the front of their shirts as it was the best offer on the table, albeit they couldn’t print it on the juniors shirts.

This from the supporters club is 2 uncomfortable, cringeworthy articles all for the purpose of getting a couple of clicks from something they shouldn’t want to be associated with. One of the articles is from the head honcho supremo as well.

            An awkward read.

I meant to say in my first post that I never liked the betting company logo on the shirt, just as I didn’t / don’t like Everton’s Chang beer and the others who advertise beer.

              I liked Barca’s UNICEF and Aston Villa’s children’s Hospice.

Trouble is ….. I like the football, the craic, the fun and so shirt logo’s kinda pale into insignificance.

I might go and buy a house …… good point!! I did buy a pair of walking boots with pinky maroon trim today when I could have got away with a pair of just normal grey ones.

Barca’s UNICEF has been ditched in favour of Qatar Airways.
It now appears much smaller below the nubers on the back.

Yes, I’d noticed that. Trouble is I once bought a pint of beer – on impulse – the tear away that I am, I flew with Emirates, I drank Chang in Varanasi or was that Bang, I haven’t driven a Chevrolet, insured with Ing, Renault must sponsor someone, I bought some footballs in Sports Direct, and I flew with Malaysian – supporting Joey Barton really irks me. So, its the fun of football I like.

I just wish Thwaites sponsored someone, I like Sneck Lifter – don’t tell me – they do – Cockermouth!!

Yet another thing you’ve got wrong on here.

How do you know that the websites in question aren’t paying the Supporters Club for the ad just like 188 Bet and 12 Bet paid the club? As a non-profit organisation I would say that any money they can get to help subsidise costs for Latics fans is a good thing yes?

Sorry Egg have you been on the Advocat or just still realling from the hilarity of Friday night?

I’m not going to discuss any further a 3rd party on here. I know who he is an what his titles are. I suggest you understand that role within WASC before sayin Im wrong.

Course they’re paying them you plonker, that’s the point, keep up, read the articles, uncomfortable and unnecessary for the tuppence ha’penny they’ll get for being associated with such tripe. I’d rather go bust, which they won’t.

Somebody makes the decision to put Championship matches on instead of Premier League before games, in the supporters club, they need a talking to about that as well. I’m sure mines not the only money they’ve lost because of that.

Oh believe me I know exactly what his role within WASC is, and it isn’t the head honcho as you put it.

So what’s the difference in when the club did it for five or six years?

Ask someone to change the channel then.

I apologise then, sorry to all concerned I thought he was Head of Media and webmaster for WASC. I know there’s a few on here who’ll be on first name terms and very connected to the supporters club and will back them up even if we all walked in on Tuesday night to find the lot of them naked and having a Virgin BBQ.

Course they’re paying them you plonker, that’s the point, keep up, read the articles, uncomfortable and unnecessary for the tuppence ha’penny they’ll get for being associated with such tripe. I’d rather go bust, which they won’t.

The club didn’t put out cringeworthy articles with no point other than to serve as a link. They would also have been paid handsomely to do it. Thought we’d established the point of this thread was the fact that the WASC has felt the need to put out such a sad, sad article for the sake of next to fook all. Unless someone would like to back up their reward for doing it, I’ll stand by my view that it’s for peanuts and un-necessary.

Somebody makes the decision to put Championship matches on instead of Premier League before games, in the supporters club, they need a talking to about that as well. I’m sure mines not the only money they’ve lost because of that.

Smarmy aren’t you? I queried it and was told most people want to watch the Championship game. I asked my table they all said Prem, I left it at that and now go elsewhere.

As an alternative view in this old boys club, I thought these were fair points worth bringing up. I would find it hard to believe even their greatest allies would view the articles without feeling them the slightest bit cringeworthy.

He is the head of media and webmaster. That however is not the head honcho is it as you described him?

The articles may be cringeworthy, to be honest I haven’t read them, but the club also had regular articles advertising 188Bet and 12Bet online with adverts in the program and all around the stadium.

If the websites in question want to give the SC money to advertise them then as a non-profit organisation they need to take it. A 57 seater coach to Millwall with 20 people on it doesn’t pay for itself you know.

I agree on the Premier League games though. I’m not fussed about the Championship now we aren’t in it.

So why are you commenting if you haven’t read them?
Dear me that makes you look silly, is that head in the sand or head up somebody’s back passage? Thanks for backing me up on that position thingy.

I’m glad we agree on something, I understood the Championship matches last season, not this.
