What a superb performance. A big well done to Gary and the lads who put on a display of good positive football in terrible conditions on a shite pitch.
Things looked good on both flanks but midfield, defence and Will Grigg the striker performed brilliant. How good is Chris McCann looking? Wabara too looks like he has been there all season and made the right side look strong at last. Both the other two new lads slotted right in and with the pace of Yanic there are going to be many more three nil wins. Chuffed as a butty with today. Power and Perkins both great too.
Hopefully tear Sheffield apart next week.30 January 2016 at 10:29 pm #146932Best performance of the season today, I can’t find one thing to whinge about after that.
And a Will Grigg hat trick too.30 January 2016 at 10:32 pm #146933Yes it was a great performance and we can get better (more accurate passing….)
Think I must have missed Grigg’s third
30 January 2016 at 10:53 pm #146935Today was a good, solid, strong team performance with the emphasis being on the final word – team. I haven’t seen a bunch of wigan players play together as a team so much since the days of ellington, roberts, mcculloch et al.
As i have said on numerous occassions & posts, the reason i am enjoying this season so much is not the winning games, not the free for all scoring, but the fact that these lads (who in fairness most i’d never heard of back in august) play, work, bust a gut for each other & have a never say never die attitude.
Well done!!!

In the his aftermatch interview on Wish he said yanics cross came off the defender and brushed against his leg before crossing the line. He is claiming it as it touched him last. Caldwell also confirmed it in his interview.
30 January 2016 at 11:35 pm #146940Absolutely outstanding performance today against a side pushing for the play offs.
Some of the football played was from a higher level and have a feeling they could blitz this league from now on.
Btw what the effing hell where that bunch of vale clowns doing being escorted through the home sections shortly after kick off ?
Coukd have been nasty anyone know why they got in to the home end?30 January 2016 at 11:41 pm #146941I can only guess (but I don’t know) that they had rushed the corner gate – and were sent back – but could have turned nasty
30 January 2016 at 11:58 pm #146942Also we had no Jacobs today or James makes the win even better

Donny & Horc will know who we mean !31 January 2016 at 1:55 am #146946Best performance of the season today, I can’t find one thing to whinge about after that.
And a Will Grigg hat trick too.Sorry Horc, but I can: the first goal should have been credited to Janic – they did me out of £110 booty !

Hopefully tear Sheffield apart next week.Is that the real Donny; what no negatives !
We could have had nine today; lost count the number of times that Janic waltzed past their fullback. Keep it up the Tics !31 January 2016 at 2:05 am #146948BRILLIANT …… maybe the best game I’ve seen this season. MOM McCann, Perkins, Yanic and Wabara. Blinkin’ thunderous shot from Wabara, went faster than Tim Peakes rocket, and WABS shot had a banana curve on that would makes ffyfes banana look straight (the EU would object), bloody rubbish save from their keeper.
Some excellent football. Keep on keeping on Gary and the Boys!!
31 January 2016 at 2:25 am #146951Another cracking crowd too. Hopefully a few more of the JCLs will be back soon and we will start to top the 10k. Who would have ever thought that little Wigan could be drawing support like this in the third tier.
31 January 2016 at 3:02 am #146952Attendance 9,627, with around 1400 from Vale.
So still plenty room for improvement
Fuck the EFL
31 January 2016 at 11:38 am #146953As impressive as we were yesterday we still face a real uphill battle for a top two spot with Burton and Walsall 7/8 points in front if they win their games in hand. We also have to visit both teams.
Throughout the season we have been impressive in beating teams outside the top ten but have only won two games against opposition from the top ten as it stands. No doubt this will have to change if we are to have a go at those above.
