This was a topic of conversation at the FAB tonight, but what are your views on the recommendation for a 100 team Football League in 5 divisions.
Link to article here or paste this http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36335384
It could free up Christmas and/or see the end of midweek games. It could see prices go up (or down) and/or teams have less players therefore less wages.
The EFL AGM is in November and a decision will be made whether o discuss it further, but is the fixtures a real enough problem for there to be a change?
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
21 September 2016 at 11:15 am #150834Keep the same more or less. Just re-name The Conference League Three. Christmas fixtures are good. Evening fixtures are good. Forty six League games are good.
Stop tinkering and leave alone what works and as always worked well.
With rotation players play less games than they ever did.
Only change that could be of any use would be to see The Premier League scrapped and the crazy amounts of money spread more evenly.
Think tanks start thinking and stop taking the game away from the fans. We want more games not less.
The proposals are meaningless and senseless and should not even be considered.
Time for fans to let the powers that be know at matches with action.21 September 2016 at 7:21 pm #150837Smacks of getting ready for Prem 1&2 and shoehorning Celtic and Rangers into the mix even if they are denying it at this time.
21 September 2016 at 8:00 pm #150838This must be a non starter but as you say Nuneaton the smell of a Premier League 2 is polluting the air and if big clubs continue to be re placed by smaller clubs and the bigger clubs do not get back up there quickly the stench will fill the atmosphere big time.
Just say no. Sharpey needs to know our feelings if you are against this bullshit idea.21 September 2016 at 11:36 pm #150839How about this…..
Four Leagues,Divisions 1,2,3 & 4 and a Non League top division of North and South?
With all moneys distributed evenly through the divisions.
Scrap the Greed League, make it 20 quid max entrance fee and dont pay any player over 2 grand a week.
Also cull the big wigs running the whole stinking rotten corrupt caboodle.
23 September 2016 at 7:17 pm #150884When i read this article it makes me suspicious of their real intentions. They seem to be dressing up a so called problem for the football league, which is not an issue for me. Sounds like it’s all about the premier League & Champions League.
Take issue with some of their reasoning’s.
Bigger attendances for weekend matches?
Increase quality of football?
Boost finances? The supporters would suffer increased ticket prices to compensate for the lost games surely!
If you look through the fixture list we play one midweek match a month, apart from Sept where there is three (one of them is for Sky). Hardly arduous is it.
Think Mr Harvey is a premier League fan. Keep as is for me.
23 September 2016 at 8:20 pm #150887The money problems for FL clubs has come from the idea that the Prem is worth billions.
24 September 2016 at 9:44 pm #150933No Premier League ‘B’ teams, nor will it be opened up to Scottish Clubs.
No Prem B or ScotsFA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
24 September 2016 at 11:04 pm #150937Now we need to hear, “still 46 games and no winter break plus no to stopping cup replays in either cup and the removal of Greed League youth teams from the Football League Trophy”. Would also like to see second and third replays brought back.
24 September 2016 at 11:34 pm #150941Winter break is being strongly opposed as is the FA Cup being mover to midweek.
I can see the benefit of a 38 game season, both financial and for the International teams. It would bring us in line with the rest of Europe as well.

24 September 2016 at 11:55 pm #150942The Premier League was supposed to have been formed to help England’s national side. It’s failed there then.
I don’t know how playing eight games less can improve finances at all. Just four games less for ST holders. Fans are not paying on the day anymore.
I would propose ending the international breaks or simply a break for clubs losing players for England duty.
I can’t half think though that the Football Leagues proposals are being forced on them by both the Premier and Champions League as JimmyC commented.25 September 2016 at 12:18 am #150943No Premier League ‘B’ teams, nor will it be opened up to Scottish Clubs.
No Prem B or Scots[/quoteThat is jayt till the TV companies start jostling for the screening rights then watch the conditions start to be added. As soon as money is mentioned the FA and Football League will buckle no doubt.

Jayt, don’t you know, we are leaving Europe, so no need to align ourselves…. :)
25 September 2016 at 1:49 pm #150948I also think…. this really doesn’t effect the Premier League so what difference will it make to our poor showings in Europe and the International stage.
I can see that outside the Prem 4 less away trips (and homes) saves fans money, squads wouldn’t need to be as big savings on wages and agents fees, no midweek games means bigger crowds on the Saturday (or at least they wouldn’t miss out on 25% less due to the night matches), the expense of travelling to less games saves the club money. Plus with much less midweek games the team would have a better training schedule and should there be game cancellations there is a lot more room for rearranging.
Just giving the other side of the story.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
26 September 2016 at 8:01 pm #150989One thing I’ve not seen mentioned (apologies if someone has) is the possibility of the League2/League 3 divisions being actually a regionalised division – so there’s be PL, Championship, League 1, League 2N, League 2S. Wouldn’t downgrade the leagues as such, provide proper league status to 8 more teams, and really help teams’ finances, as it would avoid Darlington having to play Exeter on a wet Tuesday for example.
