All I’ve heard is it’s attacking football – and is usually entertaining.
I’ve also heard he prefers the 4-2-3-1 formation. So everyone wanting 2 upfront are going to be disappointed.
Two up front is a relic of the past that we wont ever see again. Well come on, who wants to see football played like that again. Ellington Roberts era such a boring period at Latics. Fast, attacking, shooting, wingers yawn a minute ball. Give us the passing it out from the back at snails pace anyday.

To be fair Donny it ain’t just us with the odd exception. It’s almost like some footballing God said 442 can no longer work and everyone nodded and agreed never to go there again. Sure in a different lifetime it will return and all will abandon the modern day equivalent the 4231 which everyone has decided is the only way to play.
This would be nice to see at Barnsley though

Grigg DaviesWhichever formation a team plays means absolutely jacksh1te. If played correctly the 4231 formation can work wonders. Unfortunately since being promoted GC adopted a more tentative & cautious approach & thats why the football was boring at times.
If WJ likes to play attacking football & has played the 4231 formation throughout his coaching life, then we might, just might see some good attacking football with the right kind of service to grigg (or le fondre).

Grigg DaviesThat is the way to go and if changes need to be done during the match we could bring on Perks or Jordi or Burn or if desperate LeFondre. Again though as Runcorn says numbers are numbers and it is more about the pace of the game. Funny though that is damn near the side three of us were talking about on the way home on Saturday.
Hopefully our new Mon will soon ignore advice about selection especially when it mirrors the idiocy that has taken us to the relegation zone.
