Personally as few as possible but who knows. Obvious ones that will leave are the long term loaned out players from last season. Hopefully we won’t be selling the likes of Grigg, Burn, Powell etc. I hope we have a small squad fighting to get a game. Do we really need to bring any players in? All have been brought in to play the type of game Cook plays so no need for them to adapt. Two strikers is ample as only one will be playing and providing none are injured. As little disruption as possible should see us ok. Paul as inherited a squad that should fly up the league. They just need managing.
All that said, this is Latics so it will be more likely ten out and ten in and a practice ground for half a dozen loanees whose heart and minds lie elsewhere.2 June 2017 at 11:18 pm #159515Cookie was after Remie Streete while at Pompey so rumour is we will be in for him.
2 June 2017 at 11:33 pm #159516Heard that one. It’s going to be deja-vous time yet again in many ways. Martinez/Caldwell time again too.

He was released by Port Vale and is a free agent. Now you may be thinking the obvious but apparently he was their best player last season and a few are supposedly interested in him.

Sorry I forgot about him. So we have one to flap about lost up top on their own, one to warm the bench and a spare Mon for injuries. Powell can also stand in up front.3 June 2017 at 2:07 am #159521
Powell can also stand in up front.
That’s if he is still here next season. Do hope so!!
3 June 2017 at 2:34 am #159522Or fit enough, but yes Powell, Grigg and Burn are the backbone of our side. (potentially)
3 June 2017 at 1:47 pm #159527Did Perkins and Flores sign the new deals they were offered? That may be 2 more gone from our squad if not. On top of that if we can offload the likes of Odelusi and McKay plus one or two others we have room to bring in a couple of new signings without having to lose any of our better players although I’ve no doubt some will want to move on.
3 June 2017 at 1:59 pm #159528There’s bound to be a cull and new players in. Cooky will have some players in mind to fit in with his ideas.

On top of that if we can offload the likes of Odelusi and McKay plus one or two others we have room to bring in a couple of new signings without having to lose any of our better players although I’ve no doubt some will want to move on.For me the squad is bloated & uneven – only 1 (unfit) right back), 2 unfit left backs, only 1 wide player, too many midfielders, 1 senior keeper & some who aren’t good enough (McKay, Whitehead, Odelusi etc..) so there is room for improvement even if the spine of the squad appears strong).
For me if the likes of Odelusi, McKay & Whitehead can be offloaded, they don’t need replacing purely in terms of numbers. Likewise it wouldn’t do any harm to trim some of the 1000 midfielders we have on our books & not replace them
3 June 2017 at 9:07 pm #159540We have been linked with the striker Doyle from North End who by all accounts is utter dog shite!

3 June 2017 at 11:55 pm #159543Can’t see him looking for strikers yet unless someone is leaving.
Strikers will be low on Cookys priority list.4 June 2017 at 4:36 am #159544We have been linked with the striker Doyle from North End who by all accounts is utter dog shite!http://www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/preston-north-end/pne-striker-linked-with-wigan-1-8574858
Grigg didn’t set the championship alight but looked superb in league one. Perhaps Doyle might be the same. Don’t write him off for what he’s done this season.
