Apparently doing well at the other ‘tics, scored a few and getting good reviews. I though he was a decent player before we signed him, any thoughts on why it hasn’t happened for him at Wigan ? He is due back in January, I would like to see more of him, but then again we don’t see what goes on in training, does Cook just not fancy him?
14 December 2017 at 10:10 pm #164239I’d forgot about him, perhaps he could play the Sam Morsey role with the addition of a few goals un aw
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!14 December 2017 at 10:44 pm #164241Apparently doing well at the other ‘tics, scored a few and getting good reviews. He must be good enough to put pressure on Power and Perkins for a back up midfield spot.
BTW, I am sure I saw Jordan Flores on the concourse on Tuesday, if so its good to see him up and about.
15 December 2017 at 2:19 am #164249I rate Byrne as a good player, creative midfielder. Definitely the best of Joyce’s signings in my mind.
We have had 3 managers since he was signed just under a year ago. Thats the reason he hasnt achieved anything (yet) at Wigan. Too much upheaval and change. But I think he may come good here yet.
15 December 2017 at 8:12 am #164254Jack wants to stay at Oldham so no point in bringing him back. May as well do a permanent deal and let go.

Morsy was brought back by Joyce and he also brought Bogle who we cashed in on without even giving him a chance in League One.
15 December 2017 at 5:46 pm #164271Looked good but if he doesnt want to be here then let him go.
15 December 2017 at 8:32 pm #164276I don’t think it’s case that he doesn’t want to be here. It’s more a case he’d like an opportunity to play some regular football and he hasn’t really got that opportunity at Wigan yet. He was highly rated when playing with Ireland underage teams and I’d definitly bring him back. However with Wigan top I can’t see him getting regular football and that’s what he’s getting at the moment. I’d be slow to leave him go in the summer though.
30 December 2017 at 4:29 pm #164625Rumours of Powell moving to Villa maybe Bryne could be a ready made replacement even though theres also rumours of him going to Hearts was it ?
30 December 2017 at 5:08 pm #164631Powell to villa should be f***** off right away if we have any ambition!!!!We haven’t got out this league yet so flogging a key player would be outrageous. Tell spud edd to do 1
30 December 2017 at 5:08 pm #164632Rumours of Powell moving to Villa maybe Bryne could be a ready made replacement even though theres also rumours of him going to Hearts was it ?I really cant see any of our spine being sold on in january, unless a really SILLY amount of money is offered on the table. We are top of the league. Why disrupt anything?
30 December 2017 at 5:41 pm #164634It’s the player and his agent that could disrupt things.
Powell is injury prone which will effect his value but he joined on a free so another profit on a player for the club could be too much to resist.
If Jack is really that good he could have same value next year. -
