Decided not to press charges against the alleged incident with a Latics fan. Concentrating on his football instead.
Very noble of him considering he was the one with the physical aggresion towards a Latics fan.24 February 2018 at 12:05 am #166887Surprising really with all the cameras focussed on the tunnel area, not one, not a single one, caught the alleged assailant spitting at him, or even saying anything, nor is there any reliable independent witness to what happened.
24 February 2018 at 12:42 am #166889My take on it is…..
Nobody hit anybody.
Nobody spat.
I think words were definitely said….they probably swore at each other. At end of the day…..
The so called supporter was an idiot. Will possibly be traced.
Stewarding and Police was a shambles, especially West Stand. Club will get fined, no doubt.
Nobody was hurt…thankfully.
The tannoy guy didn’t help by blasting Wonderwall and saying “this is city’s victory song”
City can pay the bill for the damage their fans did.And we move on…
24 February 2018 at 1:12 am #166891Watched the incident a couple of times after the match and didn’t think there was anything in it.
All these Whiter than White City fans venting their disgust about Wigan on social media…. hypocrites.24 February 2018 at 4:16 am #166901My take on it is…..Nobody hit anybody.

The playing of Wonder wall was so funny and brilliant. Citeh fans of old would have appreciated the ironic wit.
Only fines should be handed to MCFC.for disgusting riotous behaviour.
Like I said yesterday the Citeh fans should have either left or applauded the underdogs and their amazing ecstatic fans. They have a fabulous side so they should be able to appreciate a third tier club that actually beats them.24 February 2018 at 12:59 pm #166902Apparently both clubs know who the Latics supporter was.
If that’s the case then I hope that the club give him a fair hearing & don’t bow to City pressure & self-righteousness or media indignation.
Yes he shouldn’t have been on the pitch but there were thousands of others on there also.
The only evidence is from Aguero that there was a spit or abuse & with all due respect he had to come out with some defence as to why he lashed out & then chased after this bloke so I wouldn’t count on his evidence as being reliable.
If the lad says he didn’t spit or say anything then the club can’t/shouldn’t punish him on the basis that Aguero says he did.
Hopefully Dunkley can give some evidence for or against Aguero but if not then for me unless the club is going to ban every pitch invader then I don’t see what the club can do24 February 2018 at 1:07 pm #166903There is certainly plenty video evidence of the behaviour that came from the worst losers I can ever remember after the final whistle.
24 February 2018 at 1:34 pm #166905I just think this is being blown out of all proportion.
A pitch invasion on such an occasion was always going to happen, especially after the result. It was inevitable.
In actual fact it was pretty harmless. Remember the days when the turf got dug up, the goal post got wrecked and more.
Yes, as an ESPN pundit said ‘this is the players workplace, so they should be safe’. Of course that’s correct, but the reality is that in such a situation the safest place for them all at that time is in the changing room. By that stage of the evening Aguero shouldn’t have been on the pitch. He was kinda taunting trouble. It was as if he was looking for a fight after his disappointment. Pep was in the changing room; he and a lot of the City players had scarpered quickly.
Leave it; forget about it; don’t let it cloud a great evening; Aguero was wrong to be there, as was the Wigan lad, the latter’s presence was inevitable. Let him enjoy the moment, as we all did in our own way.
24 February 2018 at 1:46 pm #166906If spectators (i’m loathe to call them “fans”) hadn’t encroached on the pitch, then none of that shennannekins would have happened. As proud as I was of the way the Latics beat the best team in Europe, the post-match incidents, especially playing Oasis tunes, were inflammatory and was a direct attempt at rubbing City’s nose in it.
I hope those who encroached get fines/bans, that the damage to the North Stand is paid for by Manchester City, and that the guy who chooses the post-match tunes is removed from his duties forthwith.
24 February 2018 at 1:54 pm #166907The playing of the music was very little different from 15000 people singing ‘Will Griggs on Fire” several times. It was light hearted banter and trivial Why did we all sing the song? Why do we sing ‘we beat Man City With a Watson goal’..’cos its fun and to provoke. Just like they were trying to provoke us. Let’s just imagine what would have happened if they’d scored!!!
It’s all fine. It’s all ok!! We had a great night, and another stack of great memories where no harm was done1
24 February 2018 at 2:36 pm #166908I am OK with fans on the pitch after a monumental win like this. The only downside was it didn’t give the players the chance of a lap of homour. I am also OK with them singing Will Grigg’s on Fire to teh City fans. That is a time when you can use the word “banter”.
The main criticism is the poor policing and stewarding.
We’ve all seen previously a line of stewards, supported by police, across the away end and then moving slowly forwards in a line to separate the two sides completely (although to be fair in all the clips I’ve seen the Wigan fans stopped at the goal line anyway), and then push back to at least the edge of the area if not further.
As for Aguero, he should have been down the tunnel by that point. What was he doing still there?
If someone did spit at him then of course they should be banned – but I have also not seen any evidence at all, conclusive or inconclusive, none at all that anything happened. His “arm brush” was not the actions of a hyped-up player who has been spat at. It looks like irritation at losing. If he’d been really spat at then he’d have floored him.24 February 2018 at 2:45 pm #166909I’ve heard quite enough about this now, its fekin boring. You would have thought this was the first time fans had ever run onto the pitch.
Nobody was killed or injured, it was just over exuberance following an unblelievable result that nobody expected. Two things to note by both clubs and fans.
Players; When the whistle goes and you see the first trickle of fans enter the field, run like fek to the tunnel.99% of the city players did just that on Monday
Fans;you shouldn’t go on to the field at any time, if your emotions go on overdrive and you are magnetised to the pitch, do not approach any oposition players, usae your energy on patting the backs of your own players.
Mutty, Enjoy
From Matlock to ManU

By the way Mutts there were just two arrests all night and they were outside the stadium. Both Citeh fans. Wonderwall??? That announcer needs a special mention in the programme. It was brilliant.
Pompey chimes after we beat Southampton anyone?724 February 2018 at 4:46 pm #166917Firstly Pep was the instigator of the night for completely losing the plot and his actions got the players wound up.
Secondly when it all comes out I reckon the lad will be identified as not a Latics fan but possibly someone who normally masquerades as a United fan. It just doesn’t make any reason that a true tics Mon would react like that after the way we were feeling at full time.
Thirdly I’m as bad as our PA announcer, I had “Will Griggs on fire” blasting out last night as a dedication to the City fans in there. It sounds brilliant when played loud.
Fourthly Aguero is a typical foreigner loves to give it but cries like a baby when he gets it back.
24 February 2018 at 5:28 pm #166919Pep should of had a go at Delph not cookie.
The ref sent his player off not Cookie and Pep should be more concerned about one of his players diving in with both feet at a crucial time of the game.
If Aguero was spat at how come he didn’t fall over and hold his ankle!! You lost get over it.
