At the fans forum a few weeks ago martinez stated that we were short of numbers in our squad, now I read this.
What the fook is goin on here???7 January 2010 at 10:40 pm #17487At the fans forum a few weeks ago martinez stated that we were short of numbers in our squad, now I read this.
What the fook is goin on here???It’s called cost cutting!!!!
Our wage bill is allegedly nearly £50m, how?
We do need to get rid of some players granted but with a squad the size of ours to allow 6 to leave is suicide. We will be lucky to sign anyone in the window judging by the size of Bob’s war chest and if we do I bet we make a profit!!!!!
8 January 2010 at 12:00 am #17492What Bobby means is that he is short on numbers who he can realistically call upon for first team duty.
So for example, if he gets rid of 6 dross and brings in 3 lads who are good enough to push for a first team place , his “numbers” have actually increased.
It’s fekin easy this football manager milarky!!.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!8 January 2010 at 12:01 am #17493with the names mentioned there, it sounds good to me. I’ll bring my boots for the rest of the season!
Clear the cack and start again8 January 2010 at 12:10 am #17495Owd on a bit Hindley Blue,£50million wage bill were,s that figure come from!.
8 January 2010 at 12:14 am #17497Its come from the same place most of the things on this Messageboard come from. Thin air!
8 January 2010 at 1:42 am #17516Had the same thought my self John…sounds like Bob’s having his strings pulled:
– “Figueroa’s not for sale” – yet we’ve named a price, we’ll settle for at least £2m less and pay extortionate agent’s fees for the privilege of selling him
– “Our squad is light” – yet we’re letting go of 6 and probably only bringing in 3 (and I disagree with the point about having 6 that he can’t choose from…that’s crazy and any Prem manager worth his salt should be able to motivate and develop at least 50% of that number)
– “We’ve balanced the books and don’t need to sell” – yet we’re letting Fig go and can’t afford to pay Celtic up front for a badly needed striker
– “Seeing Amaya, McCarthy and Sinclair was like having 3 new players” – what? You can’t double count with players you’ve already got just because they haven’t featured until now.
Not holding my breadth this transfer window that’s for sure.
8 January 2010 at 1:51 am #17518Kapo, Cho, Koumas, Kingson, DeRidder, Bouzhan theres 6 who can go now without replacments, may as play kids from reserves who give toss if we win or not

Also we have to take into account all the money we make from player sales which is huge.
When the break down of all Premier League clubs finances was done nearly 90% of our income went on wages so do the math!!!!!!!

9 January 2010 at 3:37 pm #1770650 million quid wage bill – utter 8oLLox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if we had fifty players on 20 grand a week, that would be 50 million a year.
If we had 25 players on 40 grand a week it would be 50 million a year.
Utter dog pap. As if??
And as for Martinez, whelans little puppy, he wont be bringing anyone in of any note – just more swansea garbage.
And by the way, Melchiot is going to Swansea, so you will see what that paves the way for – more swansea rubbish.

When the break down of all Premier League clubs finances was done nearly 90% of our income went on wages so do the math!!!!!!![/quote] march 2009Accounts released this week covering the period to May 31, 2008, show a 60 per cent ncrease in turnover to £42.8m (2007: 26.9m), mainly due to an increase in revenue from television fees which more than doubled to £15.5m.
However, the club’s pre-tax losses increased by 37 per cent to £11.2m (2007: £8.3m). Lower ticket prices meant Wigan lost £700,000 in season ticket revenue. New signings and an increase in spending to keep current players at the club saw the wage bill rise by £10.8m to £38.3m
