Watching the Portsmouth game with half an eye and it’s interesting to see Browny making a “nuisance” of himself, shall we say.
It is a view held by the esteemed V100s that the lad could still be doing a job today in our midfield although we don’t know the exact circumstances of why he moved to Pompey.
His legs may be going, but I suspect there would be some nervous opposition legs on show too with him still snapping around
13 January 2010 at 1:01 am #18087As good a season as I think Thomas and Diame are having, we have no bite in midfield anymore since Cattermole and Brown left.

He’s already served one suspension and on his way to another.Like you say no bite in midfield.

IMO No.
13 January 2010 at 1:42 am #18094I think that’s the point; Thomas (who I like also) is still a bit green whilst Browny is a bit more street-wise.
Anyway, it’s a fairly moot point seeing as he has gone to Pompey.
13 January 2010 at 2:00 am #18096I’m sorry to sound like I’m on a downer on the guy, but Browny whilst still battling hard couldn’t pass water and constantly gave the ball away in his time before his departure. Its just like City will find out about Viera, his legs are not the same as they were and thats 75% of his game gone.
One observation re tonights game, it was against a championship side and a poor one at that.
Give me the option of Brown or Thomas, I would still take the latter. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!13 January 2010 at 2:56 am #18100Brown anyday for me, Thomas is not really good, thomas doesnt get on players case as mch as browny did he tackles them when they run at him, Brown had the bite we needed (as did Cattermole) and would take him back anyday, Thomas isn’t that good, not saying he wont be but Diame is the better of the 2 in our centre mid.

He has a right go at the Spanish speaking players.
Brown couldn’t/ can’t pass, and if you’re trying to play a passing game, that’s a bit of a disadvantage.

i meant get on there backs as in chase them down quite as much as Good ole Browny did :)
13 January 2010 at 11:15 am #18118yep but don’t forget, Browny only chased down players once he had followed the ball to their goalkeeper and went on a mad ‘un for 10 minutes. The rest of the time, he was giving away silly free kicks for shirt pulling, tripping people up on the way past and obstructing players…
…I do like Browny but Thomad and Diame are much much better…..
13 January 2010 at 12:45 pm #18123I’m not saying Browny is better player these days than either Thomas or Diame. Just that his noisy, scrapping, in-your-face presence could be something we could use at times on the pitch.
