Let the new lads feel at home….
I would walk ten thousand miles
And I would walk ten thousand more
Just watch Gary Caldwell
And to see James McCarthy Score
Na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na
etcHere’s an uplifting song:
(To the tune of Blake’s Jerusalem. No chance this will ever be sung.)And did his feet in ancient times
Walk upon old Springfield grass?
And did this man who came from Spain
Say to fans ‘Gracias’?
He came, he played, and now he’s back
With Hugo and Zog in attack
And we’ll support Roberto’s team
In Wigan’s green and pleasant landOr we can really dumb-down…
He’s here
He’s there
He’s covered in red hair

21 January 2010 at 2:34 pm #19024Standish,
2 of the more creative members of the V100s have been working on a homage to our favourite tufty-haired Trinidadian, to the tune of Flower of Scotland. It goes something like:-“Oh Jason Scotland, when will you score…
A go-ooal for u-us, and hear us roar.”It goes on to request he scores from a corner or even a “pen-al-teee”
It is struggling for a number of reasons:-
1, we don’t know the real words of the song to adapt
2, we don’t know the correct melody or meter
3, this is the West Stand – who are we kidding?
4, even the V100 evangelists have little enthusiasm for it
5, it will be redundant as soon as he scores… so actually, I suppose it has the potential to run and run, I guess :lol:21 January 2010 at 2:45 pm #19026I thank you for your kind, kind comments.

I know the tune, but haven’t a clue of the words. As I have the next two days at home building Lego things and watching Scooby Doo, I feel a Googled ‘Flower Of Scotland’ coming on.
21 January 2010 at 2:52 pm #19029It doesn’t help that the two lads trying to sing it have voices like a cinder trapped under a door.
21 January 2010 at 3:21 pm #19030Here’s an uplifting song:
(To the tune of Blake’s Jerusalem. No chance this will ever be sung.)Sounds like a new club song along with You are my sunshine.
If just a few of you sing it, it will soon catch on, give a try.
What’s the bets if it catches on the club will nick it and play it over the tannoy?21 January 2010 at 4:49 pm #19037It doesn’t help that the two lads trying to sing it have voices like a cinder trapped under a door.O flower of Scotland
When will we see
Your like again
That fought and died for
Your wee bit hill and glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward’s army
And sent him homeward
Tae think againWhat sort of a song is that? It doesn’t even rhyme.
Oh Jason Scotland
When will we see
You score a goal?
You hit the post again
Aim your banjo at a cow’s @rse
You’re there for flick ons
To hold up the ball
And put Hugo through
Tae score againCan’t see this one catching on, and I hope your mates do a better job. For the record, I also have a voice like a blocked drain.

Yes, I think this was the main challenge the V100 song-writing division faced. However, with the 90-120 minute car journey to go on Saturday morning, I’m sure we can have a bash at improving on your effort. :( Cow’s @rse, indeed.
21 January 2010 at 6:28 pm #19047You just know that somewhere during the 90 mins we’re going to get a rendition of ………….” you’re just a small town in Derby ” !!!!!

Meanwhile, I have downloaded both the lyricsd AND the sheet music for Flower of Scotland (bite me, Standish!) and will be mostly working on a new arrangement, forthwith. :ugeek:
21 January 2010 at 8:51 pm #19062I hope you’re taking a pitch pipe Griff. Otherwise, it will just ruin it if it’s in the wrong key.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ5fLBEpKo821 January 2010 at 10:54 pm #19072Standishwalker, that Jerusalem is a corker.
I am a lover of a good football song something that the muppets in ES2 just cant grasp. Take a catchy and well known tune and put some words to it not take somebody elses song and change a few words.
Some of my favourites are the one that West Brom sing to the tune of the lords my shepard, Man Utd U-N-I-T-E-D,united are the team for me. liverpools field of anfield road and Millwalls come down to the den.
I thought of changing the words to Jerusalem a while ago but for the life of me cant think of anywords, i was never good at anything like that. Me and my lad have been singing Oh Jason Scotland since we bought him but couldnt think of anything else.
The other season just before that latics text thing started (not had anything of them for ages) i went around ES2 and ES3 with a couple of songs printed out on paper, i must have handed out about 200. Both songs were took of people who had posted on here but because there was more than 2 lines and didnt repeat themselves nobody could get grasp it.
Good luck with the Jerusalem one. Do you not fancy meeting for a pint and we can see if there is owt else we can come up with.
