Skysports reckon we are in for this guy, who plays for Villareal’s B team. They paid £5m for him last season.

But according to this report I got from a quick search, Villareal have no intention of selling. Watch this space…….

Translation from article below (it’s obviously not in the Queen’s English!):

Wigan, the Premier League team who is campaigning in the Spanish Antonio Amaya-and led by another Spanish, Roberto Martínez-be interested in the services of Pichichi Villarreal B, Marco Ruben.

The first intention of joining the British was mallorquinista Aduriz. However, the high financial claims of the Balearics has led Wigan to look at the Argentine, who has scored nine goals so far. Villarreal has no intention of selling.

According to today publishing the Daily Mail, the English club’s offer could be around five million pounds (down from six million euros).

I don’t know if this is just paper talk, but if it isn’t it seems like a load of dosh for a Spanish championship player, who has struggled to push into the first team!

Roberto must have a lot of faith in the lad, because if we end up paying 5 million, and I can’t see them letting him go without recouping their outlay, and he doesn’t work out…….

One thing is for certain Latics can’t afford to pay that much for a player who will need a season being nurtured into the team, he will have to hit the ground running imho.

        Up the tics!

It does seem a lot of money, but I guess he must have a decent reputation for Villareal to sign him for £5m from River Plate.

However, just because he’s playing in the B team doesn’t make him a bad player and he’s scoring goals.

Is it worth the gamble? I would say probably yes. He’s young and has potential. If he takes to the Prem he could be worth three times that in a couple of years. How much did we pay for a 30-year-old Jason Scotland?

Diame has come in from the Spanish second tier and adjusted pretty well, who is to say this guy couldn’t as well?
