This rumour isn’t going away. Is he ‘all that’ in this league?
21 May 2025 at 4:54 pm #205753Apparently he was dropped but he was carrying a few different injuries. He’s 30 which isn’t bad but if your starting to be plagued with niggling injuries ??
Do we need that ?
Like a hole in the head
23 May 2025 at 12:12 pm #205754Mullin suffered from a serious back injury and was operated on. If he’s had back surgery it’s all about managing it after not tear arsing lost balls into the corner. You only need to look at Tiger Woods, no amount of money has put he’s back right.
If affects your running and the way you push off and on which foot. Jumping, twisting turning change of direction he’ll never be the same I promise and that’s probably why he was hardly used last season
Luke Chambers suffers from back problems and it’s put his career on hold.
Mullin will be 31 not far into the new season and mark my words as I type, if we sign him and his back kicks off you can right the coming season off which is the very last thing we need with no forward in the first place !!.
Surely someone at Latics must dig deep into his injury problems and pull a red flag on it, surely.
If we’re going to gamble and take chances on forwards then let’s find a young, hungry fit ready to go young lad who’s willing to pull his plums out and who wants to play at the highest level, someone we could potentially sell on for decent doller and with sell on clause and try to make Danson’s self sufficient dream come true.
Not a guy nearly 31 with back problems on triple quadruple wages than a young lad. If Mullin was fit just near the end of his career then fine but for me there’s huge huge question marks above his head regarding playing 30+ games in a season
23 May 2025 at 12:32 pm #205755Yep, we’ve had enough convalescent players in the past. Signed them and they are not fit enough to start the season; then we ease them in with 15 minute cameo appearances; then their next injury strikes and the season is over.
So yes, please think long and hard before we repeat these mistakes.
23 May 2025 at 3:26 pm #205756It’s the devil and the deep blue sea either:-
Young prospect with the possibility of selling on
Or
An Injury prone older experience guy who’s like a WWII veteran
14 June 2025 at 10:34 am #205779I’ll be honest, I’m a bit concerned how quiet things are recruitment wise. I’m also concerned and how the club have bigged up the signing of a new contract for the young goalkeepers, and the offer of an extension to McManaman. Plus the only new arrival so far is a freebie who was out of contract.
I’ve genuinely believed the manager will be backed this summer, but as of yet, I’m not massively convinced. Are we going to try and do it on the cheap again, or will we spend a bit of money?
They’re constantly pushing season tickets, and despite what they may say, I reckon uptake will have been ‘cautious’. Nobody I know have renewed yet and there’s 4 of us here not renewed yet. I want to see some ambition and some canny signings. Whether it’s Ryan Lowe being calm and collected, and waiting until July 1st to rubber stamp deals, I’ve no idea. But the whole thing is reeking of us being tight as cramp once again.
Hope I’m wrong.
14 June 2025 at 3:44 pm #205780I for one haven’t renewed and I’m not sure I will tbh. Basically last season should have been the start of a rebuild after getting rid of all the big earners but all’s it was was dull boring non eventful season (bar Maloney going) we were packed the squad with kids with no experience and L2 loans.
I received a call from the ground asking if there’s anything they can do ? first call ever so they must be desperate.
So this self sufficient that keeps raising it’s ugly head, how?. First you need to lay the footings by signing 3-4 v.g. experienced players, create the spine of the team then build around it.
Then there’s “We need to build a youth system were we can start bringing our own through”.
100% agree it’s something I’ve moaned about since the days of Whelan who did nothing.
Joe Riley is 12 months late and last season was a wasted 12 months.
I want to see progress young hungry lads and a mix of experience not another “Oh we signed a left back from Barrow he’s 31 played in L2 for the past 9 years”
It’s great that the club was saved from drowning but now we’re just treading water nothing more with little signs of change in the near future.
I just hope we can do some good business before July 1st otherwise there’ll be lots not arsed about the money off
Like me
Yes I’ll still go but I’ll choose my games because last season for me was one of the worst I’ve been.
21 June 2025 at 12:28 am #205784I like the Saydee signing and I think Lowe will bring in Mullin to play off him. Add to that the pace threat of Asamoah Jr, and things will start to look up, strikers wise.
I don’t know much about Fraser Murray, but what I’ve heard, he sounds promising. I certainly think Lowe has a few irons in the fire, so to speak. I’ve actually got a great feeling about Saydee and also Mullins. If we can get him firing again, it could be the goals to fire us to promotion.
I totally trust Ryan Lowe. I think that his way of thinking is not to different from most of us. Certainly, 2 up front and whilst wanting to be entertaining, he also wants a result at the end of the build up play.
I’ve a feeling that we will have a very good season.
21 June 2025 at 12:39 pm #205785Lowe is the only reason that I’ll be renewing my season ticket. If it was SM, I was definitely throwing in the towel.
At least we will have some height up-front for a change.
22 June 2025 at 7:26 am #205786I just hope our medical team have double & triple checked everything because the last thing we need is signing players injured.
Not that, looking at what Pompey fans say about Saydee wouldn’t Mullin be the same type of player? meaning, are they going to be able to player together
23 June 2025 at 9:31 pm #205787Welcome to Mullin hopefully he can regain his form and put us into the top 6 good luck to the guy.
This changing room reminds me of the early 80’s. I bet it sounds like the set of “Brookside”
24 June 2025 at 9:04 am #205788Some jealous Horwich fan I know just messaged me saying
“Mullin good player but unproven at this level”
At first I thought go on you jealous f**ker do one pal then I read into it and thought ummmm:-
Mullin has played 408 league games scoring a total of a 168 goals but he has only ever scored 6 goals in League One or above.
3 goals of those 6 league goals came while playing for Tranmere in 20 league games in League One 2019-2020 season.
The other 3 goals were last season for Wrexham were he played 26 league games but dropped from Feb onwards due to a lack of form.
158 of his 164 league goals were scored at Non League or League Two level.
Basically Mullin has scored in his two spells in L1 a total of 6 in 46 games.
Food for thought
I hope he can prove my m8 is talking sh*te and he scores up at the Onesheet
