Decided to go so went into work late….why oh why ?…Absolutely painful to watch,zero threat. Made to look woeful last 30 mins by an average league 2 side. Created nothing in open play…..scraped through with a poor penalty decision. Yes we swapped it round but on the night we had our 4 strikers on the pitch and wouldn’t have scored in 900 mins let alone 90. We’re Northampton extremely poor ??….Need a real big reaction Saturday and recruiting a hardened midfielder is looking more and more like a must. Hoping Northampton wasn’t a false dawn …..if the last 2 performances are anything to judge us by then I’m getting a tad concerned already.
It wasn’t a classic that’s for sure but looking through last night’s other games there were a lot of other sides like us who made hard work of it.
Mabaya looked like he’s done for a while with a possible achilles injury I bet Liverpool are made up with us Chambers now him.
On a more positive note Luke Robinson performed well along with Asamoah who I thought had a decent game and along with young Brenan and Graham which bodes well for the future.
Main thing is we’re into the hat for the next round but I don’t think our squads got the quality on the bench to go anywhere in this trophy (meaning a couple of rounds), one more and were done I reckon.
Yes, Robinson was our best man on the night and deserves a real chance in the team.
Leo Graham; is he the new Jimmy Bullard ? Did well in his cameo appearance.
8 shots; at least it was more than most Maloney games; only time will tell.
