For the Hemel Hempstead game.
I feel like absolutely giving up. Wiganers are so apathetic, and add the fact that the rugby is on telly at 2.30, in the 2nd test at Everton, its going to affect our crowd.
It shouldn’t do, but it will do, sadly.
We’ve no momentum in our support at all. We have a hard-core 4000. Tomorrow I think there will be less than 6000 on, and theyre bringing just under 1000. They’ll have loud support behind the goal, our end stand is closed. Even the supporters club bar, is closed. (Although I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we turn up and find people in cherry and white entering to watch the rugby).
I also bet we find turnstiles closed.
I’m not even bothered now if we win or lose. Its obvious that loads more aren’t even interested tomorrow, at least I’m going.
Hemel Hempstead Town have been like a breath of fresh air. Their enthusiasm for the game, its lovely to see. I do think Lowe will be playing a very dangerous game if he plays too weak a team. They are a decent outfit. They’ve travelled up this afternoon and have arrived at their hotel tonight. They look as professional an outfit as we will face this season. We could end up being the shock of the round.
31 October 2025 at 7:49 pm #206375I always had a feeling it would be a poor turn out. It was the perfect time to go a £1 kids in the hope to attract a few that normally wouldnt go but that would never happen.
The clubs like a dirty unused garaged car. It badly needs a service and a valeting. I thought it was just me losing the spark but apparently there’s a few more like myself.
I’ve said it a 1000 times, if you buy a run down property or business you have to strip back to it’s core then reinvest to get it back to were it was and make it attractive
We’ve done Part (1) , Part (2) were still waiting

And that is exactly how I feel and think as well.
I said after the Bolton game that they as a club, are a year further on out of their administration. You can see there’s a buzz around the place there now. But us? We are very much a club still coming out of the mess. But its the club even making a move to do so?
Turnstiles not open on matchday, supporters bar closed..there is a pall of death hanging over the place. It just feels like we are ticking along as a club, and that theyre happy to do so. My matchday neighbour in the stand even said to me about today’s game “I actually wish I was in with the Hemel Hempstead fans, as itll be bouncing and much more enjoyable”. I agree. There will be next to no atmosphere in our stands. I looked yesterday and from where I am sat, the 10 or 12 rows below me, the seat directly in line with me is empty. My god, thats piss poor. The West Stand looked better than Id expected, but thats because people who normally go in the South, which is closed, have gone in there.
But just wait and see, if we get through today and the next round and draw say…Newcastle United at the Brick. Suddenly every fucker in town will want a ticket! And will the ‘Hardy Few’ who’ve stood by the club in these games have any reward or thanks? No.
The club is still being ran ultra cautiously…too cautiously, in my mind. Still short of people behind the scenes, penny pinching at any opportunity. We’ve a Billionaire owner who is going to have to chuck a few million at this, even to make it worth his while. Speculate to Accumulate. We are a long long way from The Championship and we need 2 bouts of investment. The first, to get us out of this league. And the second, to give us a chance and some stability once we get into the Championship. Getting up to that level will bring in more supporters on a matchday, more so larger away support from bigger clubs, but also a few more Wiganers…people who have decided to stay away may be tempted back. But thats not a given.
Is it a ‘Rugby Town? May be a bit controversial this. Ive been watching Latics since 86, so coming upto 40 years in May. Ive fought and defended Latics all that time when people have thrown the ‘Rugby Town’ label at us. But I actually now think its true. I keep saying “The old Latics died in administration. This club we have now may have the same badge and the same stadium, but its a different club entirely”. I honestly believe that. Its like we reformed as a club in all but badge and stadium.
It doesn’t feel the same any more.
1 November 2025 at 9:11 am #206383Dansons call for advise from the NRL speaks volumes. Rugby Leagues TV deal is up for renegotiation 2026 and this will determine it’s future.
When a club like Wigan win everything in 2024 and show a loss then how can it survive?.
Point to that is, Dansons been asked to front two sports and I’m not sure how long he will.
Do not be shocked if we’re sold in 2026 I wont
