This really annoys me.
We have three of our own players that are worthy of 1st team selection, but have been frozen out.
Harry McHugh – he should be on the bench at least. How else will he ever grow into our team When he has featured, he has always given his all and put in performances that are better than some of our “loan players”.
Luke Robinson – comments as above. Is he injured ?
Jon Mellish – we are crying out for a robust player who can play fullback or midfield. What do we do ? Loan him out and bring in “loan players” who don’t offer anything extra in their locker.
It’s about time we stopped this nonsense.
29 January 2026 at 5:28 pm #206774I fully agree with you.
We’ve too many players currently who know they won’t be here next season. Are they actually bothered?
Not one yellow card at Wycombe. A team losing 2 nil and not one of the players even goes in a bit robust to earn a yellow. And not one player protested at the penalty decision. Honestly, we’re soft as shite and got no leaders.
29 January 2026 at 7:57 pm #206775Right I’m gonna put my tin hat on here:-
When all said and done the players haven’t helped themselves.
Doncaster, we defended like a Sunday league pub side. That Aimsons header on the floor speaks volumes
Wycombe
Wright grabs his arm 1st min… Was he in the box ? it doesn’t matter, if he doesn’t grab him no penalty.
Raphael’s header for Wycombe’s 2nd, laughable
That’s just to name couple …there’s lots more so although Lowe’s tactics/ setup doesn’t help, granted but if you defend like that and give the ball away every 5 seconds ? you will get undone.
No wonder we’ve 10 men behind the ball, M.Smith and Weir up till of late have had drop back into the defense week after week Bolton at home a prime example.
Yes the buck stops with Lowe and his tactics stink but those players don’t help themselves.
I’m not making excuses for Lowe far from it but these players to get a grip and fight tooth n nail for the cause
At times they look like they’ve downed tools. Regardless of a bad camp off the field, on the field they need bust scrap for every ball till the end otherwise regardless 3-4-5 at the back without that fight we’re down
29 January 2026 at 9:09 pm #206778Yes, the fact is that the players have been utter shite.
I have come to the conclusion we have a bad bunch of players. They aren’t arsed one bit.
Either that, or theyre stealing a living as footballers. And some of them definitely are.
24 February 2026 at 8:17 am #206962We’re struggling for left n right wingbacks or versatile players so we loan out Mellish who can play the left wingback role quite good scoring against Walsall for MK Dons.
8-9 players sent out on loan 6-7 brought in and not all kids. I’m not quite sure why Kai Payne, Mellish, Brennan or even now injured Millar were booted out it can only be put down to piss poor Mr.Magoo recruitment.
The signing of players then a few months later then sent out on loan just highlights how bad our recruitment process is.
The table doesn’t lie, both Lowe and Caldwell play very similar systems and without players who can play in that system it’s very hard to see how things will change.
I’ve a feeling Asamoah’s had a ding dong and Caldwell’s got him out the door asap and to be frank, that I think is the last we’ll see of him at Wigan.
For me it’s time to give Moseley a slot on the bench this weekend and stop cotton wooling our brightest kids.
Peterborough recently unveiled a 17 year old who repaid them with a goal. But round holes square peg systems will always fail in the end.
If we pursue the same Ryan Lowe tactics with loanees I fear for us
24 February 2026 at 10:26 am #206963Asamoah strikes me as being a bit of a petulant kid; so he probably didn’t like GC telling him off for conceding an absolutely needless red card on Saturday.
25 February 2026 at 8:59 am #206964I reckon Asamoah knew the move was in the pipeline and purposely got a red. I think GC has realised he needed shut of him. He has pace, nothing else.
A real pressing matter for me is getting certain players under contract. Specifically Bettoni. If hes allowed to walk away for free in the summer, its an absolute travesty.
25 February 2026 at 4:21 pm #206966If he doesn’t fit then off he goes but at the end of the day
It’s business,
Without him the club wouldn’t have had a big payday at Arsenal because he changed the game at Preston. His pace when one on one is frightening.
Now I get it on one hand, young lad, arrogant, whatever but he proved at Preston he’s worthy but wasn’t even on the bench the next game.
Put yourself in his shoes, you do a blinder of a job the gets dropped. I’m sure anyone one of us would be fuming. We’ve all worked with people we can’t stand but were paid to do a job regardless.
Anyway he’s gone.
As I pointed out last time
Moseley
He’s 21 this year now some will say, “Too young” – “No experience” well there’s only one way to do that, like Baines, McManaman, Lang, Adeeko, Aasguard and a good few more
Play the fookin lad
We’ve already made Taylor good enough to price ourselves out the market so why not get the likes of Moseley this Sat, minimum he should be making the bench from here on in.
I read he scored a cracker this week for the academy so I don’t see why he can’t be mixing it with the first team he’s not 16 17 he’s 20 going on 21 and he needs minutes
I just hope he’s not the new Josh Stones, never used and sold (he scored twice mid week).
We’ve a few very good young lads knocking about so why not use them rather than pay stupid loan money wages on the like of Ollie Cooper who stunk the place out.
I’m lost to be honest,
Bringing in a small army of loanees is not “Self Sufficient” it’s called “Borrowing” bridge loaning till the season after.
25 February 2026 at 4:50 pm #206968Although Asamoah looked lively at Preston when he came on, he wasn’t the match winner. He only came on as a sub for Bettoni.
My opinion is he’s fast and that’s it. Rather see us go with Moseley than him going forward
1 March 2026 at 9:08 am #206990I’m not saying he’s a world beater or he doesn’t deserve to be sent out on loan all’s I’m saying is, when your in front in a game it’s nice to have a very quick player stood on the half way line, opposition players know this and ah*t themselves into mistakes
4 March 2026 at 7:42 am #206995What makes things even more stupid is that two of the long term loan players have been injured most of the season and the other Raphael is just totally out of his depth and also not very good. Actually he is shite.
