Something that was won in a draw at Latics young supporters meetings and was ran by a lovely couple (one called Lawrence i think ) back in the day.

My daughter sighted an online advert allegedly highlighting a  ‘Mascot experience ‘ at £260 plus VAT  ?????????????

This is Wigan in Lancashire FFS , a  former mining town and also famous for its spinning mills , all sadly gone and an with a noticable underclass now relying on low paid work if they can get it or worse benefit income.

I would imagine a fair few of our supporters fall into these categories.

Dave Whelan might have been a very tough businessman and yes not a man to cross but  he always knew his home town of Wigan  and made sure he looked after the supporters knowing finances were probably tight.

I could not believe it when i saw this mascot advert, shocked beyond belief, all about money and we now just money machines rather than supporters in my opinion.

Quite frankly thats the final straw for me, no more money of mine to this lot, not a carrot, small protest and wont even create a bead of sweat for the owners but unless someone tells me they still have the free Mascot draw it is over and out from me after 47 years!

My granddaughter was selected at random ,no cost to be the mascot when we played Doncaster….(Think because we payed into The Future fund)….Excellent day for myself, elder grandaughter and youngest. Still that cost is ridiculous . Way out of financial reach for many. I spend enough as it is. On the note of spending…..I have 1 Adult ticket and 1 under 18 available for Blackpool. Please let me know if anyone interested.

I think the mascot package is for those who can afford to pay to guarantee their child is mascot rather than through the ballot. From someone who never got to be mascot as a kid even though I was in Junior Latics from age 6, I can see why people would pay it to make sure their kid wasn’t disappointed, but I am sure there is still the free draw.

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
