Turned a 3 year deal down. Who’s to blame for letting him go, a player with so much potential?,

      Club?

      Player?

      Agent?

He is nowhere near the finished article and yes he does have huge potential with lots of growing to do.

My criticism is, this should have been put to bed either last summer or January.

I’m in no doubt the coaches know we had an uncut diamond at the club and with patience he could have gone for Charlie Hughes money in a year or so.

For me if this is going to happen were deals are not put in place with our top youth lads then scrap it.

Scrap the youth system and just poach other clubs young lads because it’s a waste of money.

If we can’t get a few years of game time and a few quid out the lads and their just allowed to leave then I’m sorry we will be in another relegation scrap next year.

My only doubt is, he will bought by a Championship club then slung out on loan for 2 years.

If he comes back to his club a better player happy days, if he doesn’t let go, I mean he cost them nearly nothing anyway.

And in the Championship, if he does get played the defenders in the championship are 10 times better than L1 and I think he will 100% struggle

Could be 1st of many. None of us know whether we are going to have investment or new ownership before the season starts so can only base our assumptions on what we know…….which means under the present owners we are likely to be f###### as far as any ambition. Listened to progress with unity podcast last night and they went through our contracted playing staff……a shit show is putting it politely. Charlie summed it up as dreadful. How many of our out of contract players have already negotiated deals elsewhere as we apparently have refused to discuss any renewals until the seasons finished……unf####### believable if that’s the case. If we cannot persuade a young academy player like Bettoni to stick around then we really are in trouble. Look at Adam Moseley….wasn’t he signed in January??.. from Runcorn linnets …..given a contract for 6 months???WTF…..if he shows a modicum of ability then we’ve shop windowed him. I’d like to believe our owners gave Caldwell recruitment assurances…no doubt he has sourced a couple from Exeter and heard after striker Nombe from Rotherham but with the contract/wages we’ll be offering then they’ll certainly have more attractive offers. Will be a very interesting summer…..I just pray we get a new more ambitious ownership group to purchase or invest Tom Morris would be a good fit otherwise I think for all Caldwells valiant efforts mid to lower table is nailed on. Haven’t renewed yet…..no doubt I will but would be persuasive to see what the owners plans are before I do. Wishful thinking!!!

For Me, Bettonni was a two match wonder boy, and failed to impress since.

Also heard that he thinks the Latics is below his station; in which case good luck to him and off you pop !

A shame that especially since  Latics gave him his big opportunity.

Had a lot to learn for me and most likely would have been given plenty of opportunity to develop his game next season.

The clubs linked to Bettoni will be his downfall.

I just don’t think he knows the difference in quality from a top half Championship side to a mid table L1 side.

He’ll end up like Geldhart, a bit player hanging around the reserves and then slung out on loan.

He’s at least a minimum full season off being ready. He would have been better signing the deal, getting the minutes in then making the move.

Physically and mentally he’s not ready. Remember Aasguard and Lang?. They were skinny runts then woooosh they both filled out.

It’s all about money because if it wasn’t he’d have stopped

A two goal one match Wonderboy but the current owners who  run us like we are a non league club with not enough investment to progress are to blame and nobody else. Another that was quickly pushed out was Josh Stones just as soon as a tempting offer came in. Just watch his value increase as a league player at a club with ambition and investment to see them progress.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Tbh I think he has a lot of potential and could do well at a Preston or a Hull but how long will he have to wait for his chance ?.</p>
Geldhart is 24 and still getting clod out on loan and Bettoni might end up in the same boat.

                  A half decent club will:

Sign Bettoni then it’s a case of, loan after loan and if he finds his feet and does a Joe Taylor bags a few he could go for a few million who knows.

                  Now you might be thinking,

“Well why can’t he do that at Wigan?”

                  One word

                  Wages

His agent is obviously sure he can get more elsewhere and I’m also so he knows were so why stay ?. It’s all about money and minutes. The more minutes, more experience, hopefully more goals.

My argument is, I bet Bettoni would have signed a contract with us say a 2-2.5 year deal but I’m guessing we offered him peanuts.

It’s all good and well driving down the running cost of the club but to drive them over a cliff is another thing.

Without Taylor and Wright in convinced we would have gone down. We landed very lucky on the loan front with them two and funds prevents us from making a move on either player.

“Pay peanuts you get monkeys” as the saying goes and Danson has a few 50kg sacks of salted and roasted to use.

But for me Wright has to be signed asap money has to be made available for him. Danson needs to sit down and realise how important he is to the team.

My biggest fear is, those who are negotiating will get the same offer as Bettoni, a kilo of roasted.

If the wages budget is the same as last year I’m afraid next year will be a mid to lower finish and unless we have a new owner this will be the case for the foreseeable future.

My problem with that is, it won’t attract fans back to The stadium, attendances will drop and we’ll hover around in L1 till I’m 6 feet under, something I don’t think I can stomach.

As a Latics fan from the early 80’s I’ve seen it all like alot on here, the huge highs, the massive lows and we e always pulled through.

We’ve either been brilliant riding high in the Prem or fighting of relegation. and survival.

But every season it’s usually one or the other. What I can’t stand is mediocracy. Languishing mid table doing nothing bar surviving.

I just hope someone buys us and doesn’t go crazy but puts a bit in so we *can* sign the Weights and Taylors and keep the Bettoni’s
