Hate the island squatters but leagues above us tonight. Another Southgate managing decision. World champions and we try shut up shop with 20 mins left…..f####### suicide. Worst non creative midfield i can remember. Spain,Argentina win tournaments……we elevate bang average players to superhero status and soon get found out. Like everyone I was desperate for us to make the final….but honestly weve been poor throughout this tournament. ..1 up ,should have smelt blood and made positive changes…..alas he’s crapped himself and handed them a final on a plate. Maloney esq management performance. Gordon off was a shocker……….Burn on against the highest quality players on the planet……says it all.
Again we had a golden passage playing poor and average sides and still never actually looked good.
I didn’t see Spain stick 10 men behind the ball, they knew France would have to push and that’s exactly how it panned out.
For me, Kane had a poor game against Mexico and Norway and again against Argentina.
Gordon would have stayed on and I would have swapped Kane for Watkins. This would have put their defense on red alert and we could have capitalised with anything over the top.
Tuchel got away with defending the game out against Mexico and thought he’d get away with it again but the one thing he didn’t consider was the quality of the opposition.
The best form of defense is attack, we played straight into the hands of the Argies and without Pickford and the post they could have hammered us.
Another thing, we took injured players and that didn’t help. Livramento missed last 6 weeks of Prem season and James should have never gone. Even Rice was carrying a calf/neurological issue were he struggles to get through a full 90 and Stones had only played 8 games.
We basically had no flair, no skill factor, no game changer nothing only Bellingham. Tuchel picked his squad on personality & attitude rather than skill and performances.
Get him sacked, to have 12% for 45 minutes was an absolute joke as poor as it gets.
But Tuchel for me has to go, those players will no longer trust him
Whenever I complained about Latics sitting back after taking the lead I tended to get shouted down and told it would leave us wide open at the back. Now these same experts are all saying England were wrong to defend so deep and should have been more cavalier. However we lost and there would have been a hell of a different reaction if England had held on.
It’s not a case of “it would leave us wide open at the back” my argument is, not one of Tuchels subs were like for like positional wise.
It was as though like for like players “cannot defend”
We just needed fresh legs not defenders for offensive players. At this level a player should be able to defend and attack.
We simply needed fresh legs up front possibly wide and one midfielder. Yes defend but then hit them on the break.
Kane can’t run on a good day he was out on his feet so there was no outlet and Scaloni rubbed his and flooded it.
It kills me that Tuchel didn’t bring on players worth £50-£80-£100+million to play a duel roll
