Murray starts…..f####### lunacy. He’s dire. He didn’t cost us….the manager did. Sorry but ALL the stats are a football f###### horror show, read them !!! Totally devoid of any attacking premise. Stunned that still some of our heads up Caldwells arse supporters are still defending him. If we’d have been 7 down at the half we couldn’t complain. Carragher absence forced but why go with ” can’t run past anyone ” Murray. I’ve stuck up for Caldwell but my patience is thinning. He’s as negative as Maloney but I can assure you he won’t deviate from this one up bore fest. Both our goals come when 2 up top……but he’s terrified of losing so he goes after a 0-0…….No points from next 2,and don’t think there’s 3 on the table against Bromley!!!….Boreham wood scout must have creamed himself!!@
21 October 2026 at 6:38 am #207957A few things but the main one I noticed from Saturdays performance was
Giving the ball away
I simply lost count how many times we gave it away. All’s Oxford had to do was press, not win it just simply press because the moment a yellow shirt appeared in front of a Latics player they panicked like they were about to be mugged and just gave it them.
The first 15 minutes reminded me of when we beat City in the Cup at home, pinned down and unable to break out.
Now my second big gripe as to why
Scott (I don’t run no more sorry) Hogan. Rule 1 you defend from the front. You don’t expect him to run around like a headless chicken for 90 but every now and then would be handy.
I’m not sure what we’re paying him but it’s clear from he’s performances he’s acts like it’s not enough. And before anyone pipes up “Well we don’t play to his strengths, get the ball to him in the box” bollocks bollocks bollocks. There’s not a forward in all 4 leagues wouldn’t get a bag full doing that and nothing else, Christ his goal Sat was a miss hit
He literally stands with his hands in his pockets like a statue watching the opposition walk past him. He did this all game Saturday and he did it again.
Pressing gives the opposition less time to think and miss hit and mistakes appear. This is why we defended the edge of our box for most of the night.
His sell by date is overdue by about 5 years and I won’t be shocked if this is his last season cause I would pal.
He is a disaster it’s like playing with 9 men with him
I agree what you say about Murray but if he was going past defenders out wide every time he got it he’d be in the Championship or Prem.
What gets me with him and the team, simple one twos, pass move link play. Get it, release it, move, try pick it back up.
As much as it was his fault for not taking his man on it was also our lack of ability to pass to each other, move, receive it back, the lack of was borderlining on the ridiculous. I’m not joking when I say I could walk onto any decent Ami Sunday game and see better passing and link up play than that.
Saydee comes on and scores a worldy , fantastic but for me he’s an impact player nothing more. The moment you give him 90 he fizzles out and spends the times leaning into players then to ground
But overalll for me it’s worrying. When you can go from the the excellent link up play like Saturday to that in 3 days
Wow, breathtakingly bad, at times I had to rub my eyes
I’m not sure wtf were doing in between but mentally we looked burnt out unable to concentrate on the basics.
Overworking players mentally (too too much information) can actually be worse than physical exersersion.
For me whatever Caldwells doing at Christopher Park with these lot is wrong.
Sometimes less is better. I watched him Sat and again when the cameras are on and he’s constantly pointing and telling players were to go what to do micro managing the game to the point their mentally tired listening.
Remember Rosler ? same script, fog horn leg horn constantly screaming to the point were players don’t listen and that’s were Caldwells heading.
From 2001 – 2013 we had 4 managers
From 2013 to the present day we’ve had 12
And that’s were the problem lies. I said it all along Caldwell wasn’t the right man for the job. For me I’d have gone for Leighton Baines but when you’ve an owner like Desperate Dan?, that’s never gonna happen.

21 October 2026 at 4:16 pm #207960I was going to do a big reply, but to be honest, why should I go to such effort when the team and the club are so inept.
I agree with what others have posted.
The reality is its the worst team we’ve had in my 40 years. Would the admin season team beat us? Probably, yes. We are getting turned over by non-descript teams, anyway.
Every team we play now fancies their chances. There’s a reason for that. We are shite. I don’t like the team, I dont like the manager. I don’t like anything about the club, if I’m being honest. I’ve thought about going to one of Barry’s coffee mornings, but Id probably just end up falling out with someone. The club is heading straight to league 2 and then probably non league oblivion.
We’ve absolutely a squad that is worth nothing. Nobody we could ‘reluctantly sell’, if we needed some money to keep us going. We’ve got rid of anybody with any value. We are in a really awful position as a club. No assets left for rainy day emergencies.
I wasnt a fan of Caldwell the first time, and nothing has changed. Is he just a yes man? The football is awful, his team is awful. Its no better than Maloney or Lowe, or Richardson.
The actual match is the worst point of match day. I can see it getting that way soon where we say “sod it” and just stay in the pub. When in the match, my son and I have an agreement which is “two down, we walk” and we will keep to that. I was considering Huddersfield away but soon thought ‘nah’. I am not utterly convinced we will make it on the ground for the Bromley game, either.
I do not know our end game or end aim, here. I don’t think Caldwell does. I think we are in such a precarious position. I will be amazed if Caldwell is still in charge, come January. Or will they stretch it out again and pot him the day before the Transfer window?
It’s all shite and even though I’ve been going 40 years and have seen some shite in my time, Ive got to the point where I can hardly be arsed now. The Borehamwood cup draw excited me for 5 mins. Then I thought ‘its a long arse trip and we will likely get beat…at 6pm on a Sunday.’
My interest in hanging on by a thread.
21 October 2026 at 4:44 pm #207961Couldn’t have put it better. Going Huddersfield only because I promised granddaughter week’s ago. Potted Leicester as in past I’ve been willing to use my annual leave to get night off but not a chance this season with the state the whole club is in on/off the field. Danson has filleted this club and it bears little resemblance to the club I’ve loved for over 50 years. He’s produced a 3 year masterclass on how to strip back a club to a carcass and next up will be dissolving the remains in non league acid. Yes he rescued us but should be ashamed of what he has done, particularly with his staggering wealth. Nearly 50 years of league toil culminating in Dave Whelan leaving us with an everlasting legacy of history butchered in 3 1/2 years, and he ain’t finished yet.

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Spot on.
We’ve been absolutely stripped as a club. No value in the squad, every player we had of value has been sold. Nothing there if we get to the point where we need to raise half a million to keep the club going. Thats a very precarious position for us to be in.
Distinct lack of quality in the squad as well. Even if we were in trouble and decided we could sell Whitworth for 300k, we’d have to pay a chunk to Palace as part of his transfer deal. Im going to do a separate post, lookinh at the squad and each player. These owners say they came into a badly mismanaged club. Well, their management is also a load of rubbish. A squad without value, quality, or backbone. Are they setting us up for non league? I think so. We are being ran like a non league club, anyway. Its just a shell of a club. ‘Our’ club died in 2020. Let’s be honest.
24 October 2026 at 3:14 pm #207968We may have a shit load of players, we may lose alot more than we win or draw, we most certainly will be relegated this season under Tinkerbell 2.
We may have an uninterested owner but remember Mike Danson saved us just be grateful that we have a team to support.
Does the last paragraph still hold water with anyone?
Fuck the EFL
24 October 2026 at 6:21 pm #207969Yes he did save us from death, but in a sick kind of a way because now he’s slowly torturing the club and fans.
Danson wanted the stadium, he was shit scared someone would step in and he’d be a landlord again.
If he could have somehow bought just the stadium (second time round) he’d have dumped us like shit off a shovel.
Listen chaps, do not be scared if he gives us away or puts us in administration he has zero interest.
This is the worst worthless squad I can remember. Probably Chilokoa-Mullen looks like he might go on and be worth a few bob but how many have relegation/wage clauses ??.
At least the Hong Kong lot and Arabs f**ked up spending.
We’re now 4 points adrift and 1 or 2 losses and the other scrape a win we could be 8-10 points adrift in a matter of a month.
I’m going Boreham Wood but if we don’t win I’m done with the away.
Danson could easily pull £4-£5milluon out his spare change jar and turbo us, give us a boost but he prefers to watch us drown while probably sniggering like Muttley as we slip back to were we started.
Bar been in Administration I cannot see how it could get any worse

24 October 2026 at 6:21 pm #207970If the club was your pet animal, you’d be taking it to the Vets…..
We are absolutely done as a club. There’s no future, short term, or long term. You might hate me for saying this, but if we folded tomorrow, so be it. What are we all clinging onto? “Ooh we won the cup!” Or “Ooh Ellington and Roberts were brilliant”. “De Zeeuw and Liddell were class”..etc etc.
Thats all gone. This club hasn’t been the same club since 2020. Since the admin. We’ve never been the same at all. Our old club died then.
These owners are taking the piss. No idea or plans to actually have a real go. It definitely isn’t going to end well, this. In one shape or form, I think we will cease to exist.
And it might be the best thing. My lad said today “that Admin team would beat us”. Hes right.
It’s got to get toxic in that stadium soon. No other clubs supporters would be so passive. Not a chance.
24 October 2026 at 7:51 pm #207973I think the only reason it hasn’t got toxic so far is deep down we know if Danson walked away now it would be the end. We would not be in a financial position to see out the season.
It is dreadful watching the club we love slowly wither away before our eyes. A part of me almost wishes admin had been the end, rather than go through this.
Today wasn’t that bad really on the pitch, considering the opposition, but we’re back in the difficult position of needing a minimum of 2 games to move out of the drop zone. If it gets to 3 games minimum, even at this stage, I think we’re done, I really do.
24 October 2026 at 8:44 pm #207974Agree today wasn’t as bad as I thought it might end up but the problem is, i went into today’s game thinking I hope they don’t tonk us rather than we could nick it if we play to our best. Our best is a country mile of the top half clubs.
So far we’ve performed really well against some of the better sides or more fancied sides I should say. We’ve played 5 of the current top 8 in our first 11 matches
Sheff Weds (should have won)
Reading
Huddersfield
Even Cambridge are proving to be a better side than wed imagine. Ok we got tonked with Stockport but on the whole were trying but it’s not there, we’re not good enough to step it up .
I never feel comfortable or think we’re too good for them. Again I think if we had 1 or 2 better players we could bridge that gap but we have a belt & braces owner.
Mellish put a ball across today literally pin point straight across the 6 yard box and no one in the team is good enough to read it and gamble.
And that’s the difference, it’s all about levels and our squad is not a L1 squad far far from it.
How can an owner not back his managers rather than sit back and watch them suffer.
I think the only way we can stay in this division is, if Moseley or Simms hit a bag full on loan and we bring them back in Jan.
If we don’t find someone in Jan we’re down

24 October 2026 at 9:22 pm #207976Manager not up to it too. Saydee mullers a poor Reading side. ..1 down at Oxford and pulls us level. Today does same, now our top scorer. Caldwell f#### up by not starting him. Surely you start him, hopefully do damage early on then if fitness suspect then substitute him. No…start with our worst striker in 50 years Perkins….hes booked 5 mins….then Barrett booked 11 mins…….20 mins great work by Mellish.Ball fizzed in box……..useless Perkins no where to be seen. For all Danson being a wank owner Caldwell is tactically shit scared.6 away games….1 point.!!!!…Squad is national league north standard. Boys on loan for all their endeavour are way too lightweight and not up to it. Perkins Costelloe, Hogan wouldn’t or shouldn’t be near any league 1 1st team. Dansons dick brain son trying to squeeze more cash out of us regulars…hospitality, fan zone,Whelans bar etc……..priority should be attracting new supporters……..but he knows full well that that the on pitch product won’t do that . Ashamed of what we’ve become……….ffs Danson find us a new owner…….you don’t deserve to own us!!!
24 October 2026 at 10:59 pm #207977Honestly if they announced they were walking away to tomorrow and we were folding, part of me would be relieved.
It’s not been Latics, ‘Our Latics’ since 2020. Apart from the badge and the stadium, or really isn’t. Its a shell. We’ve totally lost that community feel. The fans that still go, the majority are the absolute hardcore of the support. We are clinging onto what we had and what we once knew. But since 2020, its been a charade. “But Leam Richardson won us the league”? Yeah, with a team put together on ridiculous wages chucked about by Brannigan and Talal. And then we only crawled over the line on the last day. But apart from that, we haven’t had a proper club since 2020. Just absolutely treading water, managers scraping about with crumbs. We are utter shite.
And this manager, I wasnt a fan the first time. I wasnt a fan of him as a player, and when he went up with Boyce to lift the cup…after not playing in the final, I thought that was a disgrace. His after match comments are getting more and more desperate and bizarre. Its only going to end one way…it always does. Depending how long they leave it, we could end up with lower than 5k home fans on. That would not surprise me.
Me and the lad think we will end up staying in the pub soon. Matchdays are great, until we actually get near the stadium. Then our mood dips. I cannot see where our next points are coming from. Lose against Bromley and we seriously have to question things. Thats putting it politely. Lose against them and there will be nobody on against Mansfield (who battered blackpool today)
25 October 2026 at 6:48 am #207978Have to agree there m8,
I was thinking it’s my age and I’m slowly weaning off but the FA Cup win at Preston, the amount of fans, the goal then watching a video posted up showing the away end from behind the opposite net
I thought
It’s still there, the passion the love of football, it isn’t me it’s the handling of “our” club.
What kills me is, Danson talks like fans are screaming for him to go cheque book mad it’s the opposite.
If anyone understands the consequences of mass overspend it’s us fans. We’ve seen it with Whelan, the Hong Kong lot and the Arabs.
My gripe is,
We’ve sold players up to the tune of £12million and re-invested £700,000 in player purchases. We had Tickle money and even Bettoni money and the opportunity to buy a proven no gamble forward that saved us in Taylor but intead Danson chose to run the club with the money.
Again, I’m not asking for all £12million spent on player, I get it, but, you have to re-invest some of it say 25%-50% of it back into building a better squad.
Put it this way, I wouldn’t buy a knackered run down car cheap, spent £00:00 on it then expect it to last me 3 years but this is exactly what Danson has done.
He bought us eyes wide open, he’s not stupid enough to have had to incomings and outgoings studied by his shrewd team of accountants before purchasing the club so wtf did he expect ??.
Like the car, would you put 100k of miles on it no tyres no oil change and fingers crossed it last??.
Danson knew, Danson knew we were on our arse when he bought us and he was fully aware this wasn’t something been “self sufficient” could repair.
Again, referring to a car, you assess, you weigh it up what it needs, and if it’s too much then walk away
That’s unless, the big unless
There’s valuable parts on it that can be stripped for another project
THE STADIUM
and that’s why we’re on the pitch, bottom of the league and in the shit.
Oh yeah it’s great doing all this community work, this charity work help the homeless all that, hats off, fantastic work but while all this off the field good work takes place we have had 3 years of little or no on field investment and this cars ready to breakdown.
You see this is my argument, Dansons view is,
Bring young some lads through, sell on, use the money to run the club, jobs a good un, I don’t need to spend a penny but he’s forgetting that, if part of this money isn’t reinvested into the squad with a few better quality pro’s the quality of the young lads will drop.
Let’s face it, Dansons stripped us, got what he wanted and now we’re surplus to requirements while his beloved rugby get propped up with no question asked money.
Another question
Who fiantually picks up the women’s football team tab?
Wigan Athletic
Or
Danson??
And the above are not the same
One has fook all
One is a multi billionaire
If the clubs players sold money is used just to pay the leccy and wages just like car, pay for the petrol and nothing else then we’ll eventually run out of petrol and we’ll be left to rot on the hard shoulder
Danson might be clever, clever in business, made billions, but like a 1000 rich club owners before him,
He hasn’t a footballing brain,
Dave Whelan did, he backed every manager he had and that the difference.
Through our pomp years between 2001-2013 Whelan had 4 managers but his success was because he backed them all

25 October 2026 at 7:40 am #207982If the women are being funded by the men’s account then that would be it for me. I can just about stomach Danson having the stadium in a separate company as that needs investment that the football club currently can’t generate, but being bottom of the league without a pot to piss in because of virtue signalling woke-ism to please a handful of women and lefties would be the end of the road for me.
25 October 2026 at 8:35 am #207983This has been my gripe for a while. I have nothing against women’s football but on the same token I have zero interest as well.
As far as I’m aware, Wigan Athletic women’s team comes under the banner of Wigan Athletic AFC so in theory yes Wigan Athletic AFC funds both.
The women’s team has its own principal sponsor, Calisen, and a sleeve sponsor, Plug Me In, under a three-year sponsorship agreement announced in August 2024.
But I’m sure their sponsorship money won’t be enough to cover their training ground running cost and everything that comes with running their side
Someone has to pay for it and whichever way you look at it it’s madness.
To think 12 months after he took over just as we were heading to another administration and the big earners were off the wage bill rather than think, right let’s get a plan he decides to spend millions on forming a women’s side
I’ll drag my car analogy again into it
Buy a f**ked car, spend zero on it, run it then by a brand new car a year later but keep driving the old shagged car and watch it slowly crumble
I’m still chuckling at the sleeve sponsor for the women’s side
Plug Me In
Hang on a sec
