surely Martinez can see with the players we have available, we cannot persist with this 1 up front, otherwise were deffo going down, Rodellega is our main goalscorer, he needs a target man to play off, i no its old hat, but we have to go 442, with Nzogbia and Moses wide, Diame and McCarthy, in the middle, Thomas has to be dropped, too many sideways and back passes, so does Bramble with Scharner moving to centre back, and Moreno playing upfront with Rodellega, if we do go down, lets go down fighting, also bring Boyce in at full back, and make Caldwell skipper like i said in a previous post, its time Martinez bit the bullet, admit hes struggling and bring in an experienced no2, before its too late, otherwise its the fizzy pop league for us.

It’s fortunate for us that what has gone on at pompey that there are only two places left for relagation saying that though I dont think Bobby will change the formation myself .

Agree with most of what you say Minerva.
I would def make Caldwell captain rather than the silent Mario, and probably replace Mario with the younger, fitter Boyce.
Our problem is more pressing though up front where we just aren’t scoring enough goals to win games. So if Bobby insists on a formation that requires midfielders to join the attack and score the much needed goals, why don’t we have attack minded midfielders – people who are willing to get into the box and join the mix.
Who is such a player? Who did we look to at Notts County when we were staring defeat in the face? And who came off the bench and scored at County, and got MoM on his debut at The Baggies yesterday? Ben Watson. Someone who understands the way we play in England, knows how to mix it, is fit and strong and willing to get into the box and have a go?
He may be a ‘Chamionship Player’ but I’d have kept him til the end of the season to come of the bench/start the odd game and add a bit of fight to our lacklustre midfield. He’ll score more than Diame and Thomas added together. Loaning him out in our current position was a strange move.
28 February 2010 at 4:32 pm #24709Hard to disagree with you there about Watson BD, theres, deffo a goal in him, as proved last season against Hull and Sunderland, thats were our problems lie were too predictable and are too much of a soft touch, Thomas is the most defensive minded centre mid in the prem league, and Diame isnt far at the back of him, apart from his wonder goal at Sunderland, when as he got forward, what we need is some english steel in the side, as soon as we go a goal behind its party over, and the biggest culprit is the captain, his heads on the floor, its time to change things quickly there doesnt seem any camaraderie or togetherness in this team, like I said before if we go down lets go down fighting, Ive stuck up for Bobby but my patience is wearing thin, and am starting to think is the prem league a step above him, hope Im wrong.

I think he needs Whelan to tell him he’s totally wrong before were down

28 February 2010 at 8:56 pm #24732Watson was in a winning West Brom team yesterday, wouldn’t surprise me if he and McCarthy form a partnership in the future.
