The 3rd March 1985 was a dramatic day for England internationals. Trevor Francis was given the kiss of life before being stretchered off following a clash of heads while playing for Sampdoria and Liverpool’s Phil Thompson suffered a collapsed lung while on loan at Sheffield United. Thankfully both players made full recoveries.
