What a performance!
Man of the match for me last night, showed great pace, work rate, strength, heading ability, his defence was top notch, he looked comfortable on the ball, picked out a few decent passes and looked comfortable running forward with the ball starting attacks.
I understand this was against pretty poor opposition and it may be a one off BUT he deserves to be praised on a fantastic full debut and he showed that he could well be a great addition to our team especially as he’s not played much football at all since arriving and has only recently recovered from injury.
Signed on a free transfer, has taken some stick from people on this board before he even wore the shirt so, my question is what do those people who were slating him not long ago think of him after his terrific effort and performance last night?
15 April 2010 at 6:21 pm #29699I wasn’t one of the ones slating him before I’d seen him play but I did question the wisdom of signing players in the transfer window who weren’t ready for premier league football without a significant bedding in time – Moses, Moreno & Gohouri
Now admittedly he was relatively impressive (as opposed to most of the others) last night but if we needed another centre half (on top of Bramble, Scharner, Boyce, Caldwell & Amaya) I would have preferred to see one brought in (like Caldwell) who could hit the ground running.
As it was we’ll have had 1 subs appearance & 2 starts from him this season & (for this season at least) that’s a bit of a wasted signing for someone who’ll have been here the best part of 5 months15 April 2010 at 6:26 pm #29702I wasn’t one of the ones slating him before I’d seen him play but I did question the wisdom of signing players in the transfer window who weren’t ready for premier league football without a significant bedding in time – Moses, Moreno & GohouriNow admittedly he was relatively impressive (as opposed to most of the others) last night but if we needed another centre half (on top of Bramble, Scharner, Boyce, Caldwell & Amaya) I would have preferred to see one brought in (like Caldwell) who could hit the ground running.

15 April 2010 at 6:33 pm #29703He can’t help being injured. He actually injured himself in training or a reserve game if my memory serves me right so, as you say he’s only started 1 game and made 2 sub appearences but that’s down to injury. I do believe he was signed as back-up though, i’m not denying that and the fact we have taken him on a short term contract until the end of the season proves Martinez didn’t know enough about him/rate him highly enough to give him a long contract.
He will more than likely lose his place when Caldwell returns from his ban but i’ll look forward to seeing how Gohouri plays against a good Arsenal team on Sunday (providing he starts)!

15 April 2010 at 9:22 pm #29711I thought he was Boycey for the first half hour :?Thanks for posting that. Because I spent the first half hour trying to remember his name – you know that thing where you go through the alphabet in the vague hope it’ll come to you… :?

Think he should play right back when Caldwell is backI was thinking that he his quick enough and a better passer of the ball than Mario or Boyce

17 April 2010 at 5:54 pm #29821so you happy clappers think this fellow is the bees knees then.
just to put it into perspective(and i am not saying he is good or bad) , he was up against a forward line up that was reluctant to go into our half for much of the game , where the inept clueless clown(martinez) could easily have played 3 at the back, or even 2 come to think of it,
lets see what the reaction is to him until after the arsenal game.

first week before easter it was freezing so i just fished the thursday match and went on pollawyn and had twenty odd pounds of skimmers to finish nowhere,on the monday match i drew peg 12 on trelawney and won my section with 38 pounds of F1’s , on the thursday rover i went on back twin oaks 35 and won the lake with 49Lb of F1’s,i only caught 3 real carp in nearly 2 weeks but had loads of small fish and enjoyed it.
