His first management job, should he have been given a chance like Bob ?
11 May 2010 at 2:19 pm #32943There are parallels. Anyone who isn’t emotionally attached to West Ham would probably think there’s a good chance they’ll go down next season if Zola’s in charge. Many people think the same about us with Martinez in charge. The powers that be at West Ham see fit that there should be a change. Ours don’t. Time will tell.
11 May 2010 at 2:31 pm #32946Difference here is that the new West Ham owners have made it quite clear from day one that they didn’t choose him and they don’t want him.
Not the same scenario at all with Whelan and Martinez.
11 May 2010 at 2:34 pm #32948I think if they get a half decent manager in for next year then they will improve and will be one team less who could finish under us
11 May 2010 at 2:38 pm #32949I heard an interview with Gold on Five Live about three weeks ago where the interviewer was challenging him on Zola, as they do, and asked the pertinent question ‘Do you want Gianfranco Zola to be your manager next season?’, to which Gold replied a resounding ‘Yes’.
I don’t think I dreamt it :? :?:

Newsflash: these people lie!
You can usually tell when they’re lying, their mouths are open. ;)

Not usually that blatantly! The interviewer was mithering him over it and he probably said it to get him off his case with timing being an issue because of their relegation battle.
They might be lining up a move for Roberto…. :o

“PM Neville Chamberlain arrived back in the UK today, holding an agreement signed by Adolf Hitler which stated the German leader’s desire never to go to war with Britain again.”

I think he suffered from the high expectations after finishing 9th and (I hate to say it) bringing great passing football to the Hammers.
This kind of thing always happens when new owners come in and the current manager stays in his job, it’s only a matter of time before there’s a rift because the owners didn’t employ them.
I can see Martinez leaving if we finish in a similar position next season, after all we should really be aiming for mid-table or 10th after five seasons in the top flight.
11 May 2010 at 10:56 pm #33001Gordon Brown has resigned as prime minister!
Am I the only person thinking this might be because the West Ham job became available earlier today?
