I dont know if anybody has ever noticed but the fixture computer as been really cruel to us in the 5 seasons we have been in the Premiership.
5 Opening Fixtures
05/06 – Chelsea (Home)
06/07 – Newcastle (Away)
07/08 – Everton (Away)
08/09 – West Ham (Away)
09/10 – Aston Villa (Away)5 Closing Fixtures
05/06 – Arsenal (Away)
06/07 – Sheffield United (Away)
07/08 – Man United (Home)
08/09 – Portsmouth (Home)
09/10 – Chelsea (Away)Out of the 10 fixtures only 3 have been at home and 3 out of 5 times we have had to face one of the big 4 in the final game. Also for 2 seasons we have been away on both the first and last game.
With the Chubsters at home the night before the opening day this season i cant see us getting an opening home fixture.I will guess that we will play Sunderland away first game and Newcastle at home last game, what does everybody else think…
15 June 2010 at 12:46 am #37382Good shout Darren, I hope we get Blackpool away either first or last, that way the weather will be good at least. Hope we don’t get them on a Wednesday in January  I hope we have a winnable home fixture last day of the season ideally, maybe Blackburn or West Brom. I said winnable not easy!

Add Blackpool (Away) and Stoke (Away) thats 3 out of 12 fixtures at home and for the second season on the trot both games are away from home. Still not had a opening fixture since Chelsea first season.
Is the fixture computer against us?
