Shame it took Martinez until this transfer window to realise it…
Same as Jewell with David Graham, David Cotterill, Caleb Folan, and David Connelly; Hutchings with Jason Koumas, and Bruce with Marlon King.
All three recent managers have signed lower league players on the misguided assumption that they could make the step up. It’s not a Martinez trait, it’s the case of a manager taking a punt on a lower league stand-out player, and then seeing in twelve months times that he’s not up to a higher level. They all do it – no matter which club they are with.

I think Coterill could have easily been good enough.. Folan wasn’t all that bad compared to some of the players we have seen and Koumas is easily good enough just bad attitude!
