The News of the World are reporting that Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is lining up a £1 million bid for former Latics favourite Jason Roberts MBE.

It`s no secret that Blackburn Rovers are prepared to let the 31 year old striker leave Ewood Park and it`s been mooted for the past 18 months that a return to the Latics has been on the cards for Roberts.

Roberts is a fans favourite at the Latics and he was an instant hit during his time with the club, scoring just 30 seconds into his debut at Deepdale against Preston North End, Roberts also scored in the game against Reading that saw the Latics promoted to the Premier League back in 2005 even though, it was later revealed, he had a stress fracture to his leg.

I suspect Roberts will have a change of heart and sign for Blackpool on the way down ! Not like he’s done that before !
