      I think that after tonight, and his value going north of £12m, it’s time to put Chatles N’Zogbia into the all-time Latics best XI (sorry Issy Diaz, but it’s time to make way). I’m sure you’ll all have an opinion, but I reckon the first XI would look like this (manager: Ray Mathias, of course) …

            i agree cant put chimbonda in, he had a great season but he was caught up in that first season euphoria,but what he did at the end stops him getting in

            martin a place has to found for bobby campbell and david lowe on the subs bench and newall gets in for me before ellington -newall did it at the very highest level ellington didnt.

                From the period I’ve been watching Latics my all time bext XI would be

                Al Habsi (before this season it would have been Carroll)
                Chimbonda (was superb in our best ever season – what he did after that season finished is irrelevant he is still our best performing right back ever)
                Baines
                Atherton (only played at a lower level for us but went on to prove he was top flight class)
                De Zeeuw
                N’Zogbia
                Parkinson (again only played at a lower level for us but went on to prove he was top flight class)
                Bullard
                Valencia
                Roberts
                Camara (difficult one for me coz I don’t remember Quinn or Newell playing for us so can’t name them. Ellington proved he couldn’t hack it at the top level & so I’m left with Camara or Rodallega & whilst Rod’s probably puts in more graft I want someone who I know if he gets a chance will score & for 1 season that was Camara)

                Carroll, Rodallega, Lowe, Palacios, Beesley

                  in all fairness, even though he was a prick for what he did, chimbonda still is our only player to make it into the prem pfa team of the year.
