The fan V player section in this months 442 features Emmerson Boyce going up against Paul Rhys a Scuba diving instructor, for those of you who dont read it they ask a player and a fan of a club the same 5 questions about the club to see who gets the most.
I got 4 out of 5, didnt know the last one, here they are –
1- In what year did Wigan become a Football League Club?
2- What is Wigan’s highest ever Premier League finish?
3- Who were Wigans ‘Three Amigos’?
4- Who is Wigan’s all-time record appearance maker?
5- Against which club did Emmerson Boyce score his first goal for Wigan?|

10 March 2011 at 10:41 pm #61809Sorry Jay but I have to take the answers out of the mag and answer 4 is wrong what you have sent me
10 March 2011 at 10:49 pm #61811It does depend on whether you are talking about LEAGUE appearances, as all but a few of the late Ian Gillibrand’s came in the non league.
What a legendary figure though. Long before my time, but that iconic image of him leading the team out for the first league game at Hereford, will live forever.
If we do ever actually OWN the stadium, I wish they’d name the home end ‘The Ian Gillibrand Stand’, or name an executive suite after him, or something. The club should make more of that first league game image as well, I think. Not sure how, but it’s iconic.
10 March 2011 at 10:56 pm #61813How did Boycey go on?
10 March 2011 at 11:01 pm #61814Sorry Jay but I have to take the answers out of the mag and answer 4 is wrong what you have sent meIf you had said ‘League Appearances’ it would be Kevin Langley 300+ games.
You asked for ‘All time Appearances’ which is Ian Gillibrand, over 600 I think….
If it is another name, PM me….
