If/When we stay up do we stand a chance of signing him? And how much would he cost?
19 April 2011 at 2:00 am #63764Read alot that says Fergie rates him highly and wants to keep him but he’ll be 22 by the time next season starts and has yet to make a first team appearance for Manchester United you have to wonder ……..

I was thinking the same, Utd need to replace Scholes and Giggs and Hargreaves is crocked so i reckon Fergie will spend big rather than play a young lad!
19 April 2011 at 1:17 pm #63768And he would still be behind the likes of Gibson, Park, Anderson who are already there. I would put in a bid of about £5M for him

think he would be worth it tbh

however i dont think we will get the chance to sign him i think fergie wants him back and he is a united fan dont forget he would probably rather be back there pushing for the first team
19 April 2011 at 4:16 pm #63779personally i think he’ll spend more time on the bench at UTD than what he would do at wigan. might be worth trying to get him & al habsi too.

yes i do too, he would be starting every game for us or playing 20 minutes at the end of games for united if he’s lucky.
I dont doubt that what i meant was that i think he would rather be at united pushing for a start than at wigan. Players don’t always think with their heads do they19 April 2011 at 4:41 pm #63781Players don’t always think with their heads do theyNo, but having met him, he does.
He’s certainly brighter than 90% of the clientele of this board.

19 April 2011 at 6:38 pm #63787Griff – If he does have his head screwed on I hope that he does realise that he’d be far better off playing every week at Latics (or any other top flight club that could pretty much guarantee it to him) than he would be at Old Trafford making sporadic starts in cup competitions & the odd sub appearance in the league
IMO he is not good enough to be a regular at a club likely to invest in some major midfield talent this summer – yet anyway. A couple of seasons of regular football in the top flight could bring his game on in leaps & bounds
19 April 2011 at 8:49 pm #63791A year ago, Tyldesley, I’d have said we’d no chance of getting him. But now that United have some good wide men I think his only opening would be in the middle and I think they are looking for much more quality in there than Tom has to offer.
Sad for him, but maybe our gain. We need to stay in this division though to have even a sniff.
19 April 2011 at 10:12 pm #63792Think if united did decide to sell, then I think a few prem clubs would show an interest, and be prepared to pay more than we would.
