I had no doubt he could score. I have actually seen him score live! (There’s a quiz question – when could I possibly have done that – it was in England but NOT for Latics?)

I just think the set-up wasn’t to his style – like Scotland et al.

you think a high quality manager like many say martinez is/will be, would be able to see when scouting a player whether or not he will fit into his system
the baffling thing is, apparently he didnt see it in jason scotland either despite the fact he played for him for nearly 2 seasons and he signed him twice.

Wasn’t the story doing the rounds that John Benson (God rest his soul) informed Martinez of this little fact that Boselli would be poor in our formation and set-up was told where to go.

Jason Scotland had played in Bobby’s “set-up” for 2 seasons prior to him following his boss to Latics & during that time had scored the best part of 40 goals in the lower leagues, so i don’t think his failure at Latics was due to the set up not being his style
It was more a case of him not being good enough for the top flight & he wouldn’t have been no matter what team or what set up he was playing in

Boselli I haven’t seen enough of to comment but being top scorer in South America & on the fringes of the Argentina World Cup squad would indicate that he is good enough at the highest level but it was blatantly obvious that he can’t play up front on his own – something that as someone else has said was pointed out to him by our former director of football prior to Whelan authorising a bid for him. It was also somet the BBC south american football correspondent pointed out on his blog before the season started

Just give Bobby time & he might start to realise these things too!!! ;)

Robbie Keane has no pace but is still a very good Premier League striker. Mauro knows were the goal is but would need a Heskey like strike partner to do the hard work hold the ball up etc.
