i’m slowly beginning to lose patience with playing lovely football with no end product. fulham had two clear cut chances (three if you count hitting the bar) & took both chances. yes, you could argue we hit the woodwork a couple of times, but they took their chances – we didn’t – AGAIN!!
surely, when we play teams in and around us in the league we need to play with 2 up front, & save the 4-5-1 (4-3-3) formations against the better teams, even when at home. this formation is clearly not working. i thought he would have taken off watson & gone 4-4-2. yet he takes crusat off, keeps to the same formation & yet again, we lose. i really am getting frustrated.

Its a very long time since I saw us play lovely football. We are rubbish as a team, but have a few decent players who might just flourish playing under a proper manager.
MARTINEZ OUT29 October 2011 at 10:02 pm #72812Our greatest threat is our wingers, if we have two up front, do you really think the two wingers will be able to be genuine wide men? No, the extra central midfielder allows them to attack more expressively, with only two in the middle, we’d be very vulnerable.
For this system to work, the central midfielders need to support the front three more and gamble on the crosses more, that’s why we’re not getting anything up front.
As for the ‘Martinez out’ pleas, who is out there that is a realistic target that could do a better job with an at best, average bunch of players?

The same old ” Who can we get in ” riposte !! Its getting very trite is that one ! I can name 3 straight away who would come and would change things for the better but to be honest with you, it cant really get much worse can it !! Billy Davies is my new number one choice !
29 October 2011 at 10:11 pm #72818Billy Davies is my new number one choice !Who’s your number two, Gary Megson?
29 October 2011 at 10:13 pm #72820Mark Hughes. Also a better manager than Bob !

Don’t want Megson myself but he couldn’t be any worse.
29 October 2011 at 10:15 pm #72823Please tell me you’re joking!
29 October 2011 at 10:15 pm #72824Duke how could playing 4-4-2 make us more vunerable???? We cannot defend and we can’t score goals using Bob’s master plan so how can trying something different hurt????
29 October 2011 at 10:21 pm #72828Well, two out and out wingers accompanied by two strikers does leave the two midfielders over ran by the opposition, especially on counter attacks. Even United and the likes play three in the middle because of this in certain games. Do you really think Watson, Diame, McCarthy and co are good enough to hold a midfield on their own? I think not. Just my opinion though.
Lastly, admittedly trying something new wouldn’t hurt necessarily, I’m just suggesting that playing 4-4-2 would mean a compromise in the nature of the wingers, that is all.

we are still a prem club, i cant beleive no one decent would want the job, couldnt any worse could they
29 October 2011 at 10:48 pm #72841Personally I think they could. Imagine watching us lose every week whilst playing hoof it style football under someone like Iain Dowie, that’s close to suicide stuff that is.
29 October 2011 at 10:52 pm #72842It’s fine being unlucky; and it’s fine doing all the lovely passing in midfield – but all people remember is when the last pass goes astray.
But how can you be so unlucky so often ?
Eventually you have to ask can you wait forever.
To paraphrase a bloke cleverer than most on here once said, the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and to expect a different result.
29 October 2011 at 10:57 pm #72843What are you suggesting? That Martinez abandons all his principles and converts to a system he has little knowledge or faith in?
Persistence is a great thing, it’s kept us up for the last six seasons.
