You can name one player and one player only who you consider to have come up well short this season.

For me I regret to have to name Conner Sammon who I had high hopes for ! :(

He may not be worth the money Liverpool paid for him but I rate him and would have him here any day !!

For me, Sammon was brought in as he’d have made a decent championship striker. Martinez/Whelan were perhaps planning for relegation last season so we would have had a decent start on the others. N’Zogbia kept us up single handed and now Sammon’s been consistently found out at this level. At least he puts the effort in.

This season there’s a few but perhaps Moses. Young kid, still learning blah blah blah. Maybe I expect too much from him and those around him won’t exactly fill him with confidence!

I agree with Warrington – flatters to deceive does our Victor (more often than not)

With regards to Sammon. He’s not done as well as I’d hoped but out of our 3 centre forwards he is still the one best suited to the lone striker role. He couldn’t hit a cows @r$e with a banjo but he is the only one who will chase & harry the back line of the opposition or defend from the front (whatever you wanna call it) & it allows the team not to get to pushed back coz Di Santo’s closing down appeared none existent on Tuesday at times

There is absolutely no doubt that di Santo was not interested on Tuesday night.

Why do think that was Griff ? Usually he chases down and puts in a shift !

Don’t know, but he was not remotely interested. Possibly because his mate Hugo was the one sat cosy and warm on the bench being the subject of all the transfer dialogue while he had to run (?) around in the cold.

What i tend to find with Di Santo is that for some periods of a game he really seems to give it his all & then a switch will go in his head & he just seems to stop – the 2-2 away at West Brom last season is one that springs immediately to mind. Could be his fitness, could be that he just thinks why should he bother or whatever but its noticeable
There are also games like (from what i saw of it) Tuesday when he just seems to do naff all from the off

The games where he seems to be on his game from the start & for the whole 90 seem very few & far between.

Conor Sammon for all his apparent inability to put the small round thing between & under the posts will run, chase etc.. all game long

I also noticed that he contrived to get himself subbed by deliberately putting his shin on the underside of that nice Mr Assou-Ekotto’s boot.

And just to back up my above post the FA are not taking any further action because Lee Probert saw the incident and deemed the tackle didn’t warrant a card.

Let’s be honest though he is shite, Pat Gavin used to get slated, but was no worse than Sammon.
