Can anybody shed any light on this? Left footed centre-mid brought on at right wing back. He struggled at left wing back!
Feel sorry for him because I do believe he is a good ball playing midfielder but only played 2 or 3 games in there!6 February 2012 at 3:59 am #80627Can anybody shed any light on this? Left footed centre-mid brought on at right wing back. He struggled at left wing back!

He struggled at left wing back!He was brought on as midfielder to help win the ball back and give the back three a hand when needed – so it wasn’t a like for like substitution. Moses was moved out to the right in place of Stam, and as Moses is good going forwards but needs help in defence – Jones dropped into the right back position when needed.
In my opinion he’s a good squad player, but there are at least three better central midfielders at the club.

For me the midfield is lacking a leader, from what I saw of Jones when he first came he was adding something solid to the midfield. Look at saturday, without Diame too many looking for others to do a job. McCarthey needs to step up.
6 February 2012 at 7:09 pm #80662I was in East Stand and do not have best eye sight but for me Jones was predominantely on the right and was unable to impact on the game from there. Diame is the only midfielder with a nailed on position for me the others spots should, in theory, be up for grabs. Unfortunately McCarthy seems to be bomb proof!

i thought Mcarthy and Mcarthur were excellent, they rushed and harrowed all the game, if we’d of put Diame on i think we’d of caused them real problems
but don’t ask my why he took Stam off, he’s arguably got the best right foot in the prem, if anything i’d of put him further forward
and why he keeps puting Albert Pissant on i’ll never know

You should know by now. We have seen this mon and his terrible signings, tactics, and substitutions for long enough now.
He is clueless and completely out of his depth.6 February 2012 at 10:31 pm #80698Anonymous

did you see those crosses he put over in the last few minutes at spurs that Sammon missed? or the one that Sammon missed at Old Trafford?
he seems be able drop them between goalie and defenders at pace its just our forward are crap
6 February 2012 at 11:59 pm #80712Stam can certainly cross a ball well. Unfortunately he does not have the pace to beat a man so if he is crossing from deep it is dependant on there being men in the box. The ball is going into the right area, there is just nobody in the box or having the desire to get in there.

well surely that is’nt Stams fault, all he can do is put the ball in a good area and let our so called forwards do the rest
7 February 2012 at 1:56 pm #80770I wasn’t implying it was stam’s fault. I am saying that if he is to be our wide attacker then it is reliant on Martinez setting up his team to allow us to get more people in the box. The team is still set up for an Nzogbia type player on the right who can go past people and get into the box or to the touchline.
7 February 2012 at 3:08 pm #80775If he has the best right foot in the Prem ( Quite a statement ! ) then surly he would have more than zero Dutch caps would he not ??

Then again he his up against some good competition for that spot for the dutch national team then again you can’t resist slagging another tics player off can you
