Thought we had plenty of positives to look at yesterday but of course our lack of goals is a bit worrying.
Thought that with the amount of corners yesterday we could have worked better opportunities though. Some of the crosses in were decent enough but we don’t seem to change it up enough.
Maybe a couple of Colin Greenhall front post flick ons could have caught the opposition out. Dare i say it, even the odd one taken short to try something a little different. It doesn’t seem that we work alot on set pieces in training (pure guessing i know) because we seem quite poor at them.
Just a thought but like i said, i thought we looked the better team and with a bit sharper finishing could have won.
26 February 2012 at 4:03 pm #81839Throw ins (or linguistically should that be “throws in”?) infuriate the life out of me. No-one moves and we instantly lose the ball. Why bother – let’s just throw the ball directly to them.
I agree too about corners although at least we were getting them in yesterday. We do need variation. Short corners seem a waste – they can be effective if they are whipped in quickly afterwards using the slightly different angle, but we seem to play it short, stand still and dither while the defenders close us down.

we don’t seem to have a plan on corners
26 February 2012 at 4:28 pm #81844I seem to remember us taking a ” Short one ” way into added time against City ! After a couple of swift moves It ended up near the half way line !!
27 February 2012 at 5:30 pm #81913Agree about the near post corners and flick-on. We’ve been done many times by this but we never seem to use it. Also, can anyone explain why, when we get a throw-in 10 yards from the line, doesn’t anyone park their backside on the corner flag. You can’t be offside from a throw-in so there’s a possibility of either a cross into the box or a corner kick.
27 February 2012 at 5:38 pm #81915You have to remember how long they have spent planning the corners from Watson’s set play’s… perhaps they have lost the will…
I dont think you can plan a corner from A to B anyway it’s always going to take a bit of good luck and alot of physical presence but looking at Beausejour putting them in on saturday I can see us scoring alot more than usual ( I hope!!! )
27 February 2012 at 8:03 pm #81921but looking at Beausejour putting them in on saturday I can see us scoring alot more than usual ( I hope!!! )Not too sure about that. His corners, whilst missing the first man at the near post, are high, looping and lacking in pace. That makes it harder to get any kind of power in a header towards goal and gives defenders time to position themselves to make a clearance.
27 February 2012 at 8:11 pm #81922A few seasons back Figueroa slung some long throws into the box, but we never do now – maybe worth a shot occasionally?
