Why is it that whenever i meet supporters of this ‘sport’they are always boring bast@ds!
Apologies to anyone who reads this and likes the ‘sport’ and goes to watch it(do you cheer your favourite and abuse the other drivers???)but i just dont get the attraction of watching lumps of tin spinning round some foreign dustbowl.
Dont get it!24 March 2012 at 1:01 am #83905Anonymous
I fail to understand the sport can you call it that and as for going to watch surely you get a better view on the telly
24 March 2012 at 1:36 am #83910remember people ‘supporting Nigel mansell years ago made me wonder do the fans have ‘offs’ before the races?
You could have Lewis Hamilton Hackers versus Jensen Button bushwackers-might make it more interesting. :lol:24 March 2012 at 2:52 am #83917remember people ‘supporting Nigel mansell years ago made me wonder do the fans have ‘offs’ before the races?

24 March 2012 at 6:42 pm #83940OK – I’ll rise to this one. I enjoy F1 and have been to GPs at Silverstone, Magny Cours and Spa.
I wouldn’t describe myself as a “petrol head” and don’t really care what car you drive, or in fact would’nt know what it was even if you told me. I just enjoy being at GPs though (although I haven’t been for many years).
Please though don’t confuse F1 on TV, where you just boringly follow the lead car round the track for mile after mile, with actually being there.
Firstly the noise is something you could not believe. And then, being in one place throughout the race, means you see all the cars and drivers competing with each other way down the grid. There are some really good battles that never make the TV, in the same way as Darlington v Carlisle could be a stunning game, but will never take the place of a Man City v Fulham 0-0.
I don’t apologise for liking F1 – but please don’t criticise what you don’t like, and maybe don’t fully understand.
And finally, of course there’s always the chance to laugh at foreigners. One year when Damon Hill and Michael Schumaker were fighting for the title we were sat next to a group of Germans all proudly wearing T-shirts which proclaimed “Schumaker is over the Hill”. They obviously took this literally without realising the irony. Oh how we laughed. ;)

Good post Garswood-now crawling back under my stone :(
maybe the new petrol heads are like the skybees ( football fans who never go to premier league-we all know loads of these dont we?)and only watch it on telly.26 March 2012 at 2:46 pm #84080Na still dull as houses as a sport. very little to do with skill anymore, all down to the machine and mostly money.
But if people like it, like the fake stories in top gear, then go for it.
17 April 2012 at 6:32 pm #85340I’d enjoy it more if the cars were all the same then it was down to who was the best driver. Never have been a big fan of the sport but loved the Senna film that was out last year, he was a different class.
21 April 2012 at 6:00 am #85694I know a couple of F1 fans. (I used to like watching myself a few years ago but now its just boring IMO). anyway, they were always commenting on football players wages. I used to argue (debate) with them about prize money, wages etc in F1, they’d never really listen untill I once had one of them a bet without any definate knowledge. The bet was take the 22 drivers in a F1 race against the starting 22 players in any one premiership footy match the same weekend and the F1 drivers would be on the higher combined wages. and just to annoy them a little more how many of those F1 drivers lived abroad to avoid paying there contries taxes.
strangely the bet wasn’t accepted, and I never found out if I was right or not.
I wonder.
TBH to edge my bets I said not including City but the more I thought about it the more i thought that they could include city
