I thought the salary cap was meant to stop things like this happening.
If any of the clubs abided by the cap it might do, but they don’t, there’s all kinds of ways they can pay players without actually ‘paying’ them, the board have got a lot to answer for there, and the RFL is nothing but a joke, I think they’ve had ideas above their station, investing in clubs in London and Wales, which is a futile experiment, at the expense of clubs in the league heartland like Halifax and featherstone etc etc. as soon as they realise that the only serious interest in the game is in 2 counties in England and then on a continent far far away, they might just have a game left to govern in 10 years, carry on pissing about trying to spread the word and the professional element will surely die.
How much is the salary cap I would of thought that the general income of the average super league RL club wouldn’t be much more than a couple of million they only get £100,000 for winning grand final
Not a clue, but they will get money from sky and sponsorship money etc.
Point is, whatever the cap is, it should be stuck to, then it should be impossible to end up bankrupt, if they’re going to pay monies out the back door, which they can’t afford to pay, then they deserve everything they get!
you say sky money but is isn’t on a par with the Premier league money last time I heard of a contract with sky for Super league was about £80 million over four years

Of course it isn’t on a par with prem money, not even on the same planet, but a thugby player won’t earn in a year what some footballers get in a week!
It’s all relative, a super league rugby clubs income is nothing like a premier league football clubs, but their outgoings are nothing like either, they will however, get money from the same streams, gate money, sky money, sponsorship and merchandise, just a hell of a lot less as its only people from lancs and yorks who watch the bloody thing!

Not true Mr Doe I once witnessed the sport on TV in Newquay whilst on hols admittingly the publican was flicking through channels and was on for fifteen seconds approx

Which is exactly what has happened to Portsmouth, Port Vale & Glasgow Rangers so far this season. I wouldnt bet against other football clubs entering administration by the end of the season either. I see Hearts have yet again failed to pay their wages on time.
Warrington donated the proceeds of all their away ‘tickets’ sold in the 10,750 crowd against Bradford yesterday, fairplay to the Wire’s,i wonder if any more Super league clubs are gona follow the good will idea.
