Just done us a favour whilst more or less securing the title ! I am feeling quite smug as when we entertained City at our place I told a City fan sitting next to me that on the evidence I had seen they would win nothing !! They have had about 5 or 6 master class performances this season but on the whole they have been average !
3 April 2012 at 1:13 am #84530Still think we can get something from this one. They are winning a poor league and their form in Europe shows they aint the team they were. Confidence and a winning mentality can work wonders and if we keep believing we can have a real go the next three games for sure.

Is this clutching a straws or what my opinion the Rugby play two days before against Wakefield i think who knows what will happen to the pitch if as usual over Easter it belts it down and churns the pitch up in our favour

Utd would then adapt the better I think !

Scrap that theory according to TNS the ref for united is a certain fat fecker from staffordshire

3 April 2012 at 2:22 am #84539Who will get sent off for us ? Lets have a little game !!!
I’m gonna say Caldwell !!
3 April 2012 at 2:49 am #84540Mcarthy. Rooney won’t be happy about being hunted down in midfield every time he has the ball. He’ll have a quiet word with the ref about the young ne’er-do-well spoiling his evening and that’ll be that.

He can just elbow him in the head if he starts getting too close.
I know we won’t hear anything, but I’d love someone to ask the Premier League for their reasoning in putting this lunatic in charge after what happened at The Theatre of Money Making Schemes on Boxing Day.

Terrible games ‘controlled’ by Dowd:
The Arsenal away semi-final of the league cup.
The Blackburn game in our first prem season – Jewel getting into trouble.
2007 at Arsenal (again).
The boxing day just gone against Manchester United.I’m sure there’s more too which I have missed out. All four of the above were not just a few bad decisions, they were pure incompetence! I personally feel that there is only one way to go about this. We’ve got to let Dowd know from the start of the game that we are not happy with him and be on his back throughout the match. If the whole crowd noticibly show their anger towards him from the second he enters the pitch, that’s got to put a lot of pressure on him to step up. If it’s very noticible he will realise that the media will pick up on this and will therefore be more likely to judge his display. It’s exactly what the ‘big’ clubs do I guess…

All the refs nowadays are a bit pally with the big players and this is obviously effecting their decisions e.g. blatant elbow on McCarthy…
I honestly wouldnt reccomend getting on the guys back though he seriously seems the type that it would spur him on just to stick the boot in more…
But all in all I am with you the guy is an idiot.

I don’t think that there was any anti-Latics or pro-United bias with that Rooney/McCarthy incident last season.
Whoever the ref was just got the whole situation completely wrong coz I don’t think he saw what happened (from start to finish), saw somet out of the corner of his eye & assumed something had happened & that’s where the problem comes about
The original offence was committed by McCarthy & hence why Rooney reacted. If the ref had seen it he would have awarded a free kick to United & then sent Rooney off for his reaction but he didn’t – he just saw something in his peripheral vision & assumed what he had seen & gave a free kick to Latics.
What happened after the game with him saying he saw the whole incident & dealt with it correctly is him trying to cover his own back. He’ll lose less assessment marks by “missing something” (you can’t see everything) than he would by admitting he gave a decision by assuming something had happpenedAs for Dowd – from his view on the pitch I can see why he sent Sammon off. Sammon led with his elbow & from Dowd’s view (as oppsed to the TV one or even the one in the stands) that movement can look like a swing. He actually deserves credit for admitting he got it wrong coz many of them wouldn’t (see above).
I actually think as well that apart from that mistake he has on the whole reffed Latics games well since Jewell left
Ask me next Thursday & I may have a different opinion!!!!4 April 2012 at 12:47 pm #84562I think having Dowd referee the game could work in our favour. He might be a bit more careful making the “important” decisions given his blunder at OT.
