Can’t see what all fuss is about and agree with him that Liverpool should get over this not playing on the anniversary of Hillsbrough fixation. As others have pointed out they play on the anniversary of Heysel quite happily; maybe Italian lives aren’t worth as much as Liverpudlian lives.

Further, I would have thought that a cup semi-final against Everton on the anniversary would have been a perfect way to commemorate those lost at Hillsbrough.

Liverpool have their reasons for not wanting to play on that date & that is fine with me if that’s how they feel (even if i don’t understand it).

What I don’t agree with is them dictating to the FA or whoever when they will play. I seem to remember this same story coming up some years ago when a league game had been scheduled for that date & they kick up a fuss until the premier league changed the date.
Dalglish’s initial response to the possibility of the cup semi being played on that date was somet along the lines of “we not played on that date since 1989 so we won’t be playing on it this time either.”
They need to accept that if the football authorities, police etc.. decided they have to play on that date then they will have to play on it

I agree that no one can make them play on the anniversary, they are obviously very emotional about it, both the club and fans, and if they feel that they shouldn’t play then that’s fine as far as I’m concerned.
However, rather than Liverpool ‘minutes silence’ FC dictating to the FA and other clubs when they are and are not willing to play, they should instead have to forfeit the game, if they feel that strongly about it like!
Who else do you know that can just give themselves a national holiday when they want one?
By all means, mourn your loss, remember the tragic events, never forget, but don’t expect everybody else to be so grief stricken that they cant play a game of football.

Dalglishs comment just shows how self important they are as a club, didn’t have much respect for them prior to this season, but they have even less after the antics of the last 6 months, and all the complaining to boot, always somebody else’s fault, always!
