I have inherited a mountain bike and on one of the first rides the pedal has simply snapped off. The thread has completely gone so I think it needs a whole new setpair of pedals (no idea what the technical term is).

    My questions are these:-

    1) can you buy replacement pedal setspairs?
    2) where can you buy them from?
    3) is it cost effective, or should I just buy a new one and have done with it?

    Any helpadvice gratefully received.

    Thanking you

I know the price Halford’s charge for fitting an innertube. No thanks!

I recommend metal pedals. I’ve had the plastic ones snap a couple of times and would never go back to them. They should be easy enough to fix; even I could manage it!

So in answer to your question, yes you can buy replacement pedals and they are pretty cheap from what I can remember.

If you’re not a fan of Halford:
Buy a bike, buy a bike, get down to Charnock Richard Cycles…

I’ve took my bike to that place at the bottom of birket bank opposite the crispen pub, ML Cycles.

They have a good repair chap and not that expensive. Charged me about 15 dabs for sorting out my slipping gears and giving it a bit of a service.
