anyone thinking of making the trip on saturday? if so any decent boozers near the ground and any advice on getting from southport rail to the ground ive heard its a bit of a walk say 30min :huh: thanks
It’s a bloody long way from Southport station to the ground!
Be quicker if you get off at Meols Cop (about half the distance)
Im going and it is a trek. Pubs, theres the Thatched at the top end of Haig Avenue and the Sandgrounder bar at the ground if we will be allowed in.I may ring up and check that out as it is a bloody good way off civilisation.Looking forward to it myself.
Did a rekkie on way home from work,Meols Cop station is 0.8 mls from ground, about 0.5 mls down Norwood road is Haig Avenue on the right.The Thatched pub is directly opposite Haig Avenue.I went into the club at the ground and was told we would be allowed in before and after game.Nice little gaff reminds me of the old supporters club at Springy.Not much else in vacinity of ground.

Getting off the train at Meols Cop is advisable, Southport station is a fair walk.
The thatch is an alright boozer, tend to get all the Southport fans in there on a match day so it might be a bit packed. There’s another called the Richmond just round the corner from the ground too. Nice pub, quite big as well, nice grub as well (Don’t recommend food from the ground, rip off and shite!)There’s also a pretty nice boozer called the pageant near the ground, bit tricky to find though but well worth it, nicest of the 3 pubs close to the ground by far.
