Wigan Athletic season start on 5th September 2020

The regular season will start with the Football League Trophy game against Fleetwood Town on Saturday 5th September 2020.

Wigan Athletic will start the 2020-21 season off with a BCD game against Fleetwood Town and a week later in the League against Ipswich at Portman Road. This is of course assuming we will still exist then.

Administrators have just a week to get a buyer in place so we can get past the EFL scrutiny (for what that is worth) and be given the green light to play this season.

Our first home game would be against Gillingham at the DW Stadium on 12th September 2020.

Full details are on the official site.

As we could be back in the stadium to watch live football by October, there is a chance we could be one of the pilot grounds that will have a test game first, lets hope so.

The Supporters Club have stepped in to buy the kit so the team can play, well done them. Once again let’s hope we have a club in 10 days time to actually start the season.
