Defender Roman Golobart moves to Inverness on loan from Wigan Athletic. by Ed Jones

Wigan Athletic have confirmed that young Spanish defender Roman Golobart has sealed a six month loan deal to Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The 19 year old, six feet four inch centre half is highly thought by Latics manager Roberto Martinez, and he is hoping Golobart will benefit enormously from the experience of hooking up with former England centre half and current Cally Thistle manager Terry Butcher.

Martinez said: “He goes with all our good wishes, hopefully Roman will be able to gain some invaluable experience of playing first team football and in Terry Butcher he will have a hugely experienced coach who has played and managed at the highest level.

“I know he will be a great ambassador for the club and for himself.”

Golobart signed for Latics from Spanish club Europa in July 2009, having initially been at Espanyol as a trainee. After impressing in the reserves, he was elevated to the first team squad earlier this year.

The loan officially ends on January 3rd 2012.
